Among these sweets, coconut bread is one of the favorites of Venezuelan children. The shape, its spongy texture and the grated coconut cover that makes the atmosphere aromatic make it ideal to enjoy with a cup of hot coffee or even a glass of cold milk in the afternoon.
To make this recipe we need:
DOUGH
½ teaspoon of yeast
½ cup of sugar
3 cups of flour
1 eggs
100 gr. of butter or we can use oil
a pinch of salt
Vanilla
Warm milk
COVER
250 gr. dehydrated coconut
½ cup of sugar
Supporting ourselves in the inn, we will mix all the dry ingredients. We will add the butter, yeast, vanilla and the egg, we should remain a mass of sticky texture, to which we will add the warm milk little by little, until obtaining a smooth and uniform dough; we will let it rest for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, we will mix the grated coconut with the sugar.
After resting, we must cut the dough and make small balls with our hands, place them on a floured tray, and let them rest again; It is convenient to place the tray on another tray that contains hot or warm water to favor the growth that the yeast confers.
We cover the small breads with the coconut. We will bake at 180º C until browning.
And they are ready for you to enjoy with a cup of coffee or whatever you want.
