Three Way Waffles!

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians!

I love beautiful Sundays here at my casita because.. Sundays are WAFFLE DAYS!! Here is a recipe for wonderful waffles that are quick and easy! All you need are a few ingredients and a waffle maker and Voila!...the possibilities are endless..Here are three of my favorite waffles below:

The classic! Just add some butter and maple syrup! IMG_9400 (1).JPG

The fresh sweet cream berry and honey waffle. We just added some raspberries, blackberries, fresh whipped cream, and honey, with a sprinkle of powder sugar on top!

And last, but not least...The Churro waffle! This one is my absolute fave.. I just brushed some butter on both sides, covered it in cinnamon sugar, and topped it with a little caramel syrup! This one is not for the faint of heart, but definitely worth every bite.

Now that you have seen all three of my favorite waffles here is how you make the batter:
Ingredients.JPG

This makes five large waffles.
Ingredients:
4 3/4 ounces or 1 cup of all-purposes flour .
4 3/4 ounces or 1 cup of whole-wheat pastry flour.
1 teaspoon of baking powder.
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
1 teaspoon of kosher salt.
3 Tablespoons of sugar.
3 Large eggs beaten.
4 Tablespoons of melted unsalted butter.
2 cups of room temperature buttermilk.

I know it can be hard to find Whole wheat pastry flour. You can substitute with whole wheat flour, but I highly recommend whole wheat pastry flour. Here is a link to it below:

https://www.amazon.com/Bobs-Red-Mill-Pastry-Flour/dp/B00LQKULU2/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1515371321&sr=8-1&keywords=whole+pastry+flour

Directions:

  1. Heat a waffle iron according to the manufacture's directions.
  2. Whisk together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar in a medium bowl.
  3. Whisk the eggs and butter together in another medium bowl, and then slowly pour in the buttermilk.
4.Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk to combine. Rest the batter for 10 minutes.
  4. Lightly coat the waffle iron with nonstick spray. (Pam works the best) Ladle the recommended amount of waffle batter onto the iron according to the manufacture's recommendations. (We used about 1/2 cup and two tablespoons) Close the iron top and cook until the waffle is golden on both sides.. I recommend about five to six minutes for golden brown.
  5. Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200 degree Fahrenheit oven until ready to serve.

Here are some pics of me making the waffles below:

Combining the dry with the wet mixture.

Stir..stir..stir.. You want to make sure most of the clumps are out.

This is the consistency you are looking for. Then it is a waiting game. Let it rest for at least ten minutes.

Then pour it into your waffle maker...and wait for a bit more..about five minutes for my waffle maker to make that golden brown crispy texture we all are looking for.

..and here is the finished product! A Waffle bigger than my head. Who can ask for a better waffle!

I hope you enjoyed this wonderful recipe. If you remake this recipe let me know how it turns out!

Ps. In the famous words of Mitch Hedberg.
"Waffles are like pancakes with syrup traps. A waffle says to the syrup, "Hold on, now. You ain't going anywhere."

With much love,
Sunny
