All over the world, there are some tasty and nutritious food you wouldn't want to eat, maybe because of prior knowledge you have about it, or it doesn't just look edible to you. You can't even imagine yourself eating something like that even if you're offered a million dollars. Below are some weird food eaten in different places around the world.
- Cockroaches: Yes you read that right. When most people hear the word cockroach, what comes into their mind is those little, irritating, insects flying around that should be killed and discarded at first sight. But some people don't share this view, in some parts of China and some other eastern countries, cockroaches are eaten there. It can be deep fried and it's turn out to be a crispy, delicious and a good source of protein.
- Edible Maggot: Maggot is another tasty food most people can't stand because of the way it looks like. It is eaten in some parts of Nigeria and also some part of Europe. The maggot is washed and attached to a skewer and a little salt and pepper is sprinkled all over the maggots. It's then grilled for a few minutes until it is properly cooked. A bite of edible maggots is juicy and heavenly, also a great source of protein.
.
- Rats: Like the saying goes, one man's meat is another man's poison. The same applies to how people see rats. Most people see rats as disease carrying vermin that shouldn't even be in the house and while others see it as a good source of meat. Rat is said to be very delicious and it is eaten in some parts of China, Indonesia, Thailand, Ghana.
- Winged termites : This is an insect consumed by people in some part of Nigeria. It has lots of protein and it tastes amazing. When caught, the termites are fried and it results to a crispy and delicious food.
- Snails: Snails are eaten in some parts of Africa and also some parts of Europe. I know most of you wondering how this extremely slimy creatures are eaten, but guess what? This slimy creature turn out to be really delicious and not slimy at all. The shell is removed and the slime totally cleaned up by using either lime, alum, salt (make sure you clean all the slime out). It can be fried cook with sauce or soup, whichever way you want to cook this juicy and chewy source of protein.
There are many more but I just decided to share this few. Which one will you love to try out and which one of them will you never try? Please drop your comments below.
