Over this last year , I have discovered a love for cooking , especially Bolivian food , their way of cooking is like nothing I’ve ever seen or tasted before, even a simple dish such as rice is cooked in a completely different way to what I’ve always known.
My partner is from Bolivia and one of the things he misses most is the food his mother used to make , I decided that I’d learn all of his favorite dishes and make them once a week , it’s been so much fun.
In Bolivia, rice and pasta , is toasted in oil first , They also have something I’d never heard of called chuño , it’s dehydrated potato , you have to soak it for a day first , it looks so weird but it honestly tastes great.
It’s hard to get some of the ingredients here , they have a lot better Latin stores in Palma , but it’s worth the journey. The prices here are also a lot more expensive as it’s imported but if you’re only cooking traditional food once a week it’s not too bad.
Bolivian food uses combinations and ingredients that I would never ever of thought to put together but it WORKS !
It sounds so old fashioned but I love cooking for my partner , I love to make him food that’s reminds him of home , I love to make him a favorite dish after he’s worked a 12 hour shift.
The best thing about cooking for him , is he really appreciates it , he never complains and always says he LOVES everything , it’s a nice feeling .
I really believe if you cook with love and passion it shows on the plate , I would love to share some recipes you guys so if you’re interested, please leave me a comment and let me know if it’s something you would like to see here on my blog.
I’m really hoping at the end of the year I can go to Bolivia and try all the amazing food I’ve been learning to cook , if all goes well I’ll be able to get over there for a few weeks . I love to travel and experience new places , so fingers crossed
As I said , If you guys are interested in any recipes please let me know.
Have an amazing day,
Rebecca
One serve of picante de pollo please. That is all.
...and if you believe that you're bonkers.
Also, one serve of rellono de papa.
That's all.
No it's not...
Additionally, one serve of chuno.
Ok, that's it for now. Or is it...
Sorry we are out of the pollo picante 😋
Hmm...Well, there's some very good secondary options I'd say. It all looks rather scrummy.
