Hi,Today also I come with Indian Traditional dish " ATHIKAI KOOTU or FIGS &SPLIT GREEN GRAM CURRY".
This is very traditional dish in Indian and it popular in TamilNadu. On hear the name of dish we know main ingredient is ATHIKAI.
I think no body know the name of this fig but I home I make once a week .It has very different taste I cont described the taste because you must feel on making.
Before going to the dish I give some information about this.

Now we go to the recipe :-
INGREDIENT :-
ATHIKAI/Until figs. : 1 cup
Siru paruppu /split green gram. : 1/4 cup
Onion : 1 big chopped finely
Tomato :1 big chopped finely
Garlic cloves : 4
Turmeric powder : 1/4 teaspoon
Red dry chillies : 1
Green chillies : 3
Asafetida : a pinch
Salt : as required
Mustard seeds : 1/4 tea spoon
Curry leaves : a bunch
Coriander leaves : 1 table spoon finely chopped
Water :as required
PREPARATION. :-
STEP 1 :-
First we wash figs and absorb it salt water for 20-30 mins. Cut it into equal parts and keep aside.
STEP 2 :-
Then we cook siru paruppu with enough water till it turns minimal soft. Deplete the water and keep dal aside. You can reuse the water for later reason as it contains all nourishment.
STEP 3 :-
Then we warmth 1 or 2 tsp oil in a dish or kadhai. Temper mustard seeds, broken red chilies and curry clears out. Include slashed onions and garlic pieces. Broil for a min on low fire
STEP 4 :-
After that we include hacked tomatoes and Saute a while. Presently, Add slashed figs and turmeric powder. Blend well. Include asofoetida, cumin powder and salt to taste. Blend well everything. Include 1/2 container water and cook it secured for 15 mins on low-medium fire.
STEP 5 :-
Then we include cooked moong dal and held water. Cook for another 5 mins. Include more water if necessary and modify the salt. Trimming with slashed coriander and serve hot with rice.
Now the tasty ATHIKAI KOOTU Is ready to serve.It is best combination with hot rice.
