At the time of writing this, Pizza Punks have only been open about just over a week.
There was a special invite where you could go to an exclusive preview the night before it opened to try a few things, but unfortunately I wasn't one that was selected. So I decided to give it a shot this weekend and see what I missed.
I am a lover of all things Italian and one of my favourite foods is pizza, but it has to be done right.
Pizza Punks has been done up very rustic and fresh, minimalistic and has funky neon signs. The staff are very nice, and very attentive with cool t-shirts with puns on them….I will let you take a read at them when you go.
Starter
We placed our order but while we waited we ordered some Candied Bacon bacon for the table. I have never had this but since I have a sweet tooth, and “Candied” was in the name I thought why not.
This was very nice, you had the amazing bacon flavour with hints of sweet added to it which was a winner for me.
Candied Bacon : £3.00
Main
Pizza Punks you don't order pre-selected pizzas you get to make your own, but telling the waiter what base, and toppings you want. You get as many toppings as you like all for one cost which is great and cheaper than most of the restaurants in Glasgow that sell pizza.
Below is what I went for :
- sourdough base
- san marzano tomato(infused with garlic, oregano, basil and olive oil)
- chipotle + chocolate pulled pork
- pepperoni
- Ayrshire bacon
- Tuscan sausage
- caramelised red onion
- olives
When the pizza is brought to you its not pre-sliced, you get a proper pizza cutter to cut the pizza to the slice sizes you want.
The pizza was very nice, and I enjoyed every mouthful. The base was nice and thin, which is what I really like and is like the proper Italian bases.
The option to make your own with AS MANY toppings as you like is a great and unique way to sell, and I think they will do well from this and again at the great price of £9.00
Pizza : £9.00
Dessert
This was very good, loads of chocolate and my first milkshake where I have had to eat it before drinking it.
I have to say this shake and also Byron's are my two favourite places to get shakes in Glasgow.
Punk Milkshake (trip choc brownie) £6.00
Overall :
What a shocker I was mega full when I left, but I had a great time and really enjoyed my food. The atmosphere was good, everyone I looked at were enjoying it and their food. The music was just right, you didn't need to shout over it, which is something I really hate doing.
Yes I would go again, as I really enjoyed it and the bacon mmmmmm
Do check this place out!
Till next time
