Today's juice: Pomegranate marble (original recipe)

in #food8 years ago (edited)

Anyone fancy a three-color juice?  I wanted to try to become a bartender today and make a juice with colorful layers. I only got one glass right and rest of my attempts ended up looking like a colorful marble. Who knows maybe with a bit of practice I can master layer-by-layer technique.

Pomegranate juice contains antioxidants called punicalagins and thanks to them it has anti-inflammatory properties, which might help to treat arthritis. The antioxidant properties of pomegranate are three times stronger than the one of red wine or green tea and can prevent breast and prostate cancer. Nitrates in pomegranates, similarly to beetroot, might enhancing blood flow during endurance workouts and by doing so increase athletic performance.

Enjoy!!

To make ~1 L (33.8 oz.) of juice with slow juicer, I have used:

  • 1 huge pomegranate or 2 regular sized ones (780 g/ 1.7 lb)
  • 2 oranges (350 g/ 0.77 lb)
  • 2 pears (350 g/ 0.77 lb)
  • 1/2 lemon (40 g/ 0.09 lb)
  • small piece of ginger (12 g/ 0.03 lb)

Steps:

  • If you have a tip of how to peel pomegranate with ease, please throw it my way!! Getting these arils out is a struggle.
  • Juice each fruit separately. I juiced pears with lemon and ginger to decrease change of pear juice color.Pour first juice in a glass. This will be the top layer.
  • Pour the second juice down the middle.
  • Pour the third one down the middle.
  • And it is ready!!
