What is the function of the role of calcium in the body?

Some functions of the role of calcium in the body include:

  • As the formation of bones and teeth that are influenced by vitamin d.
  • Protects the body from absorption of radioactive substances.
  • Role in the activity of heart muscle.
  • Role in the activity of nerves and brain.
  • Helps blood clotting process.
  • Enable the enzyme.

If we lack calcium, then our self will be threatened to experience some diseases, among others as follows:

  • rickets
  • dwarf growth
  • hypocalcemia
  • blood is hard to freeze
  • osteoporosis

Calcium Needs Every Day

  • 800 mg for adults over 25 years of age
  • 1,000 mg after age more than 50 years
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should at least consume 1,200 mg a day

Calcium Needs for Children and Adolescents

  • Infants aged up to 5 months: 400 mg
  • Infants 6 months to 1 year: 600 mg
  • Children aged 1 to 10 years: 800 mg
  • Adolescents ages 11 to 24 years: 1,200 mg

Nice post. On the other hand, the highly amount of Ca can be harmfull. For example can lead the occurance of renal stone, hypercalcaemiant etc.
