Ways To Cook Eggs

Eggs can be cooked almost anyway you can think of, It's amazing. The runny inside helps make your dish savory and full flavor. Back in my ramen noodle post, I mentioned how I like to boil my eggs, but remove them early so the yolk in the middle is still a bit runny. The yolk runs over my noodles adding a ton of delicious flavor in every bite.

Hard boiled:

This is when they are hard, And you can remove the shell after cooking. This is what you see during Easter haha.
You simply boil the eggs for 10 minutes on the stove.

Soft boiled:

This is how I do my eggs, They are like hard boiled eggs, But the yolk is runny. You boil for about 5-6 minutes to achieve this result. Depending on how you want your eggs.

Poached:

Another one of my favorites! These are often difficult to pull off though. It might be a fun date night activity! Hahaha!

~ Get your water super hot, Add a tablespoon of vinegar. DONT be too generous with the vinegar. Unless you want your egg to taste like that.

~ Put your raw egg cracked, into a bowl. Be careful not to break the yolk. Then gently release it into the water, Without the shell. Sometimes creating a whirlpool in the water helps hold the egg together.

~ Remove in about five minutes.

Sunny Side up

Another favorite of mine... Maybe I just love eggs LOL
This is when you get that nice liquid yolk in the middle. Cook the egg until it's starting to brown on the bottom, Then very gently flip it without breaking the yolk. Once it's cooked, Enjoy.

Scrambled.

Probably one of the easier ones, Just put your eggs in the pan after stirring them and turning them into a "whipped" texture. This creates a balance of white and egg in every bite. Pour mixture into a hot pan on the stove and cook,
Remember Cook eggs slowly on lower heats except with hard boiled poached etc. Otherwise, it gives your eggs a nasty rubber texture.

You can scramble eggs with a mix of
~ Vegetables
~ Tons of cheese
~ Spices, and potatoes.

Omelettes

Are also hard to make. It's similar to making a scrambled egg. But you leave the egg flat. And once the whole circular egg is cooked on the bottom you gently flip it to cook the other side. You then add your ingredients like cheese, Vegetables and potatoes to the side of the omelet then fold it in half like a taco. It's like an "egg taco."

There are more ways to cook eggs, But these are some of the more well known. Eggs are something people need to eat more of; Eggs are low in fat, and high in protein. They are delicious and versatile, Cheap and nutrition. Eggs are like a dream come true for our bodies.
If you eat a ton of eggs, It may be better to remove the yolks on at least some of them. The yolk is high in cholesterol, while the white isn't. Eating the white is only about 15 calories per egg!

Thank you unsplash for the pretty pictures

Eggcelent post as always. :)

Heheh thank you :) I'm Eggcited that you checked out my post

did you know that if you coat your entire egg with food grade Mineral oil and place it small end up back into the egg carton that you can store your eggs outside of the refrigerator for 6 to 9 months without them spoiling. I have been doing this for my family for over a year now and spend less as I buy in bulk when they go on sale. If your unsure of this practice, try it and when you go to use the egg, just submerge it in a glass of water if it floats its gone bad. I have only encountered 1 egg in 9 cartons that have gone bad. I store mine in my basement on a shelf. So a cool dry place is best place to store them. Once a month you should go down and flip the egg carton over. Good article about eggs thanks

No way . I never knew this, I'm going to have to try it . But first I must ask what is food grade mineral oil ?, and where dose one buy it ? .

Food grade mineral Oil can be found in your local pharmacy. Here in Canada I get a big bottle for about $7. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip. I also live in Canada. 🇨🇦

Wow that is awesome I"ll have to get some too.

This is new information, but very interesting. While I was visiting in Mexico, they had all their eggs out a room temperature. I was told it is because they didn't wash them and they still had a protective coating. Eggs in the US generally come washed, so your method makes sense. I've used the floating trick on cartons that were past their expiration. Never once did I have one that was bad. Thanks for the tips!

Yes! Shoot why didn't I put that in the article :) That is such an amazing trick ! I love it.

You don't need to worry about the cholesterol in eggs. It doesn't really affect your cholesterol levels: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/2015/02/why-you-should-no-longer-worry-about-cholesterol-in-food/

I agree @telos. Fresh eggs from healthy chickens have benefits.

THIS. Such a huge misconception that has been repeated for ages. I wish we would focus on getting to the bottom of many of these so called health truths.

No. Eggs are not healthy or ethical and do increase your risk of heart disease and diabetes.

The cholesterols that stick to the sides of blood vessels are manufactured by the body in response to high blood sugar from high starch and sugar diets. The cholesterols in eggs are not, and not only this, the more delicate heat sensitive cholesterols in the yolk are in fact precursors for sex hormones. The only problem with eggs as I see it is the white is a 'hard protein' which is slow to break down in bile. In some animals, it even causes anemia by binding up critical proteins in blood. The white must be cooked completely. The yolk you should try to leave it runny and not make it go completely hard. Frying eggs is a good way to make this happen, but you should use high omega fatty acid oils to cook them in because this defends against the oxidative damage that can make the oils somewhat toxic.

Also, I don't watch videos with so-called 'information' that the poster cannot be bothered to give a brief summary that shows they even understand the information contained therein. I don't have a fat pipe to my house for wasting on videos the poster can't even be bothered to explain why I should waste my time watching.

And explain to me what is so ethical about mechanised farming of highly bred varieties of plants that requires the eradication of hundreds of animal species in order to do. I guess you must be one of these vegans who buys the snake oil that somehow you are immune to the necessity that almost all living things depend on the death of other living things. Not even considering the fact that some living things profit at the expense of others anyway.

Morality in food production is not as simple as don't eat something from animals. Animals die no matter whether you eat only vegetables or not, and at least the critters go to a useful purpose. Animals killed to protect plant crop production just rot on the ground.

The cholesterol in eggs does contribute to the progression of atherosclerosis. This build up in the arteries. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/9001684/

The cholesterols the body manufactures do do what you say, however the cholesterol in eggs do contribute to this process. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/10704618/

Since the arteries are getting clogged with the help of eating eggs regularly, this is a contributor of heart disease. http://nutritionfacts.org/2013/09/10/eggs-vs-cigarettes-in-atherosclerosis/

I don't know why you are saying this. Because it is not the cholesterol in eggs directly?

Now like you say animals die in plant-food production. This is true and obviously I don't think it is moral.

Are you saying this to change the subject to look for hypocrisy? Or is this a justification for what happens in the egg industry?

If in my hypocrisy, well I know how to contribute to a reduction in the egg industry and so I will. A reduction would mean less hens, caged or free-range, being exploited to produce eggs for us, and less male chicks being killed in a grinder.

With the eradication of species from farming plants that I eat, you tell me? Obviously I do not think this is moral so if I knew how to reduce this I would.

And as for the eradication of species from farming plants that are used for chicken feed, well again I do know how to contribute to it's reduction.

Nowhere do I see a justification to continue eating farmed eggs because I'm a hypocrite that doesn't know how to reduce every instance of animal death.

Yes you are right animals are dying in every instance of food production. Which direction however leads to less and less animals dying in all industries?

And you were right that I couldn't be bothered late last night.

I used to hate eggs because my mom would make eggs every morning and she cooks everything on high. The smell of over cooked eggs is so nasty! Once i moved in with my boyfriend he taught me the basics to making eggs and now he says i make the best eggs he's ever tasted and I am starting to enjoy eggs a lot more.

If you decide to go with the hard-boiled/soft-boiled variety, this video will help you peel them much more easily. Seriously, try it.

@brandonp upvote for posting a tim ferriss video. I listen to his podcast all the time and have incorporated so many of his rituals into my daily routine.

Another method is to put boiled eggs back into a jar with little water in it and shake them with some force (side to side for few seconds). This will fracture the shell and allow water go get under it making peeling super easy.
Your method looks more Harry Potterish, I like that :)

I gave credit :) I found it on the website called Unsplash.

I love eggs my goodness. You made me decide to go fry eggs right now. I love it with a lot of onions and the perfect amount of salt :) Going to heat the oil, for real :)

I also had to jump up and crank up the frypan and make me some sunny side up as well.

Good heeh :) I'm glad I convinced you to eat some eggs lol.

Where is the bacon? Just kidding it looks good, makes me hungry.

Eggs in a blanket is a yummy presentation.

Oh my. Now I have a new recipe to try out. And throw out the bread I cut from the centre to the pidgeons. Thanks!

WOW yummy!

Omelettes and fried egg sandwiches are amazing!

@jrcornel agreed. I had an omelette fro lunch! But nothing beats a good ol' egg sandwich. Grew up on those in NY!

Ha! My dad use to make them for me growing up... He learned it in Nebraska. I think I am gonna go make one for lunch... ;)

The first photo made me drive to the store for some eggs. Great post!

I love seasoning my sunny side up eggs with salt, cracked black pepper, garlic powder and chili, then putting it on avocado toast. Great post!

Also egg lover great protein too.

Hey kaylinart, you beat me to a post on eggs! My partner and i raise many kinds of birds and WE LOVE OUR EGGS! We have many types of chickens which lay different coloured eggs like blue, green, copper etc. i will be posting pics of these in the next day or two. Hope you check me out! Cheers! ( Oh and i believe and it's now being reported that the collesterol is actually good for you!)

So... Actual green eggs and ham is a possibility?

Yes if you include the shells, lol. ( And you are right about weight loss and eggs- probably close to nature's most perfect food, other than hemp, that is!)

Awww man! WRITE AN ARTICLE ABOUT EGGS! I"d love to read it! There is definetly room for more than one egg post lol. Green! OMG that is so cool! You are more of an expert that I am clearly. I would love to see all your pictures.

You bet- will do!

I love eggs too. I think they have had too much bad press in the past but people are finally realising how good they are for you, not to mention how they are a base for all types of recipes.

Those pictures are outstanding by the way.

Thank you so much!

i want to eat some eggs after this post, but....but I just ate

3 mins later...

om-nom-nom-nom.....eggggs :-)

YUM good!! haha.

The best part of the egg is that it have all the minerals and vitamins almost. Only missing vitamin C :)

Great post :)

So true and C is easy to get with fruit.

Yess, that is so great. I allways eat an orange or orange juice every day. Almost every day egg also. I love omelet with cheese and hamm insite :)

I love eggs as well. I'm a low-carber, and this is a staple in my breakfast. Used to consume 6 a day (down to 4 at the moment). I need to be more creative in ways of preparing them, though.

I eat at least 6 a day. It is a myth that you can eat 'too many' eggs. For a couple of months I was mainly having eggs, sometimes with additional sausages, combined with brocoli, spinach, and some other greens I forget which just now. I found a meal like this with 4 eggs, a bit of sausage, and lots of greens, cooked in a mix of lard and sunflower oil, I didn't even feel hungry for at least 8 hours afterwards. Meanwhile, if I eat a high carb meal, low in fat, I am hungry in 3 hours.

I don't lower my carbs because I am trying to lose weight, when I have high carb food, my body just turns up the heater and all that extra energy gets burned up anyway, I am congenitally incapable of getting fat. All that excess burning surely must be leaving oxidative radicals in my system so it's a doubling of the loss.

The brain needs Choline and eggs are one of the best sources. The FUD about cholesterol needs to stop to keep our brains functioning. High five @kaylinart

Great post! I love adding sunflower seeds or hemp seeds to my scrambles for texture :)

They're also an awesome source of BCAAs and a lifesaver for vegetarians.

Thank you! I didn't think of that! It sounds like a great idea!

Having six chickens in the back yard helps!

Thats so awesome!I would love to have chickens.

My personal favorite from my time in Japan is nama-tamago-kake-gohan: literal translation is raw egg over rice. You crack the egg, whip it with some soy sauce, and pour it straight over steaming hot rice. I found a supplier in Hawaii that performs the same low-temperature pasteurization done in Japan to keep the eggs salmonella free, it SOOO good!

if you don't love eggs, you don't love yourself

EXACTLY! LOL

Eggs are my favourite food, and so cheap, truly a bounty of nature that these funny little critters who also clean up the bugs and weeds if you let them, pump out these highly nutritious little calcium shelled packages of goodness. Only retarded people like vegans don't see the wonder that is the egg. Everyone else eats them, and from the poorest to the richest they are considered a basic food staple.

Thanks. Eggs are so delicious and nutritious!

I just made what has become my favourite omelette recently:

coconut or olive oil
a pinch of turmeric
3 eggs, beaten
green onions, chopped
salt and pepper

After heating the oil, add the turmeric and mix.
Then add the green onions and sauté lightly.
Finally, add the eggs and cook just until done.

Besides a deep yellow colour, the turmeric adds a rich, savoury taste. It's also got curcumin, which is a natural anti-inflammatory. I've moved away from the big omelettes that I used to make with lots of veggies, because the eggs cook up light and fluffy this way (with just green onions, or maybe parsley or herbs de Provence, sometimes).

hmmm...so tasty. +1

Howdy. Professional line cook here. Here is a tip for poached eggs. Put the vinegar in the little dish that you will crack the raw eggs into, instead of the water, and let that sit for a minute or two before putting it in the water.

Mmmm, eggs! They're delicious! My favorite way to use them is to make custard. Isn't custard great? :)

Lost 40lb by eating lots of eggs? Not bloody likely. Eggs are the worst food for health and weight management there is. Yolk is as bad as smoking. Researchers found carotid plaque area increased exponentially in those eating just three yolks a week. Unless you're in a survival mode in the woods somewhere, eat a plant based diet to loose weight and reverse almost every lifestyle disease.

Wot A Eggyyyyyy POst , I like it ... thanks for sharing

I had to upvote this. Eggs are awesome. Really want some chickens.

gosh I want chickens too! They would be amazing to have.

Well??? In this article interesting? Another moron talks about what each person sees in the morning?
