Misal pav (Marathi) is a popular dish from Maharashtra, India. It consists of misal (a spicy curry usually made of sprouted moth beans) and pav (a type of Indian bread roll). The final dish is topped with potato-chiwda mix, "farsan" or "sev", onions, lemon and coriander (cilantro). It is usually served with bread or rolls toasted with butter and buttermilk or curd and papad. It is served as a breakfast dish, as a snack and also as a full meal.
This Maharashtrian delight consists of sprouted moth beans cooked in some spicy gravy peppered with coriander, onions, tomatoes and some crunchy farsan. Team it with some pav (bread) toasted with butter and you might end up saying Jai Maharashtra!
I have tried all sorts of Pav on my visit to Mumbai and I loved them all! :)
That's great
I just love Misal pav. When I have not so favourite veggi in tiffin I order for misal pav.
