Venezuelan Recipe

The Venezuelan Gastronomy is very wide and its regions enlarge it much more since its inhabitants can enjoy making each dish with the joy, energy, and love typical of the Venezuelan land. Thanks to the tropical zone, this country possesses diversity in terms of dishes and raw materials; however, nothing would be done without the Gastronomic roots of this wonderful land, the ancestry of techniques and the use of culinary skills..

Within the wonders of Venezuelan Gastronomy, are the so-called "Bollos Pelones" which are spheres of dough traditionally filled with ground meat. This culinary marvel of the Zuliana region is as well known as delicious and its secret is in the filling and its preparation; it is also visually pleasant due to the contrast of colors found in its presentation.

It's as exquisite as it looks.

Ingredients

  • 300gr ground beef
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 teaspoons marinade
  • 3 sweet chilies
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 onions
  • 2 paprika
  • ½ Kg of corn flour
  • 4 tomatoes
  • Oregano and salt to taste

Preparation

Place a little oil with 3 cloves of crushed garlic in a hot frying pan, and then place the beef together with the marinade and salt; cook for 15 minutes. Blend or shred 2 tomatoes, 1 onion, 1 paprika, 3 sweet chilies, and add them to the meat; remove from the heat and let it rest for a few more minutes. Prepare the cornflour with water and salt to taste. Make dough spheres with a hole in the center; fill with the stew and cover with more dough. Place the spheres in a pot of boiling water and let them float. Take them out and let them rest. Meanwhile, to make a sauce, process or shred 2 tomatoes, 1 clove of garlic, 1 paprika and 1 onion. Place everything in a hot frying pan with some oil, stir and bring to a boil. Serve the Meat Dumplings covering with the sauce and enjoy.

  • Meat can be made entirely to taste
  • It is not recommended that the meat be liquid as it would break the dough
  • Rest for about 5 minutes before serving to guarantee the firmness of the dough
