Shallow Thoughts

My dogs have missed the sun. . . can you tell?

Deep Roots

Today was a bit of a runaround, but late in the afternoon I found time to pull some weeds and get some kale starters into a planter box:

It's a cautious start, I'll be looking to ramp up the gardening as I find more free sunny hours on the weekend. I was very fortunate to find some Sun Sugar tomato starters at my local nursery, can't wait to get those growing.

Fire and Protein

We also had time for a quick triple cook on the Big Green Egg this evening. Round One was cedar plank salmon at 400F for 12 minutes:

Round Two was a couple of 1-inch-thick ribeyes. I didn't do anything fancy today, just cooked them at 600F for 4 minutes on each side and they came out perfectly:

Round Three was a couple of boneless, skinless chicken thighs at 300F for 9 minutes on each side:

Shockingly it's the first time I had cooked chicken on the Big Green Egg, and now it's official. . . I'll never use my Weber gas grill for anything ever again. Everything I cook on the Egg is just so much better that it's worth the extra time and attention to build and tend that beautiful fire:

Love your post. I just started to learn how to grow wheatgrass and Broccoli sprouts. I love to BBQ and fresh whole foods make it that much better. Nice work👏👏👏👏👏

Thanks, and good luck with your gardening! I've got a couple tomatoes going along with my kale, looking forward to planting peas next week and then maybe get some okra going after that. Spring is the best.

I really like how you sounds.. Thats pretty cool

This looks delicious! My suggested beer pairing is a Lager. Try it out and let us know what you think!

So does that lager pair with the steak, the chicken, or the salmon? Bot?

Yeah, I needed to change it up a bit, I think I made pulled beef 3 weeks in a row! The chicken was great -
in the summer I'll make a salad with my own garden lettuce and cherry tomatoes and top it off with my grilled chicken :)

Although simple but looks very tasty, I also really like fish and roast meat because there are many nutrients ...

I love salmon, as you say a lot of Protein, Many thanks for sharing my friend

Love chicken. Has lot of protein also. My mouth is watering now feel like having some chicken. May be you should try indian style butter chicken and some indian breads with that. You will love it. :)

I've seen posts on the internet using the Big Green Egg as a tandoor, maybe I'll give it a shot some day!
