QUESADILLAS with CARAMELIZED APPLE, BACON & GOUDA - Food Photo Shoot

in #food8 years ago

IT'S FRIDAY STEEMIANS!!!

Today I have for you a great food project for the weekend.

I have been away from the states for 3 years. 2 weeks ago, I returned for a visit

The abundance of everything here is just shocking.

Another thing that I did remember, but somewhat forgot, was there is food everywhere, fast food that is

In Chile where I live, there are not fast food restaurants, I mean none. And I live in a very nice city,... no fast food

I mention the fast food because as a culture, the states doesn't cook with raw ingredients. Yes, yes, they have 'The Food Network' but that is just too watch people cook, not to actually do it.

For all of my followers in the states, I hope my comment above does not offend you. Please tell me if you disagree.

So, this dish is full of fresh raw ingredients. I even made the tortillas.

I hope you enjoyed the photos. As always, the RECIPE is available upon request.

ALL CONTENT IS MINE AND ORIGINAL! All of these food photos were taken with my Nikon D5300 and my favorite Lens, the Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G. You can find out more in my INTRO POST.

AND A HUGE MASSIVE SHOUT OUT TO@rigaronib for designing my logo!!!!

I am always open to feedback, and would love to know how you feel I could do better and please do not forget to

Apple? With quesadillas? O_o

Anyway, fun fact: here in Mexico, there's an ongoing discussion about what a "quesadilla" is. I don't want to dive into that, just saying that the topic is controversial enough we actually spent weeks on a virtual civil war on social media (it ended abruptly when somebody brought another controversial topic: the pineapple pizza).

Gorgeous pics!

Ohh, the pineapple pizza, now there's a war starter there for sure. Thanks for the AWESOME comment @lenin-mccarthy

@gringalicious seems delicious as always :)
by the way, do you have any recipe for foods with lower calories? for people who are on diets? would love to see some of those posts
can you add the estimated calories in your posts too? I think that would help a lot

Yes, I would like it - if you can provide a few "lower calorie" style recipes.

Obviously, the Gouda cheese will add a nice element to this QUESA recipe (and who wouldn't enjoy a little bacon)

Every now and then, I do post some more healthy choices. I would do more, but as you can imagine, the healthier choices get less attention. I will see what I can do on calories. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment @meysam

thank you too for your exciting and more importantly useful posts

You are most welcome. Looking forward to trying the Quesadillas

I hope they work for you

** with all that cheese, wheres the wine? I just wine and wine with cheese please**

You have a good point. So, which wine would you choose?

hmm, Im entirely a red wine kinda person. But with the apple, perhaps its sweeter, maybe even a late harvest or desert type wine, in small doses! hehe

I was kinda of thinking a Chardonay, but red works too.

"Yes, yes, they have 'The Food Network' but that is just too watch people cook, not to actually do it." ...LOL, great comment... and excellent photo's looks like a perfect Friday night meal.
For the record @gringalicious ... I am with @thearcanebear as regards the wine. Wine ALWAYS tastes better with a little bit of food.

Thanks for finding the humor in my comment about the Network. I just asked @thearcanebear which wine, what is your pic?

Cheese and apple .... almost certainly a good Chenin Blanc ....
Chenin Blanc naturally matches desserts or serves as a balancing counterpart to rich, pungent cheeses.

Wow, you should do a food post about wine.

beautiful photos as always, gringly!

Look very yummy!!! Beautiful pics, as usual 💖

Thanks so much @silviabeneforti. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment @sunildkavuri

I have to say I don't completely understand the pairing of cheese and apples, but the pictures look great! Almost like a potato, potatoes and Gouda sound good.

If you don't understand apples and cheese, then perhaps you should give it a try, then maybe you will understand, maybe.

Looks yummy, beautiful and healthy! This makes me feel hungry now...at night!!! ;)

That is what I am here for, to make people hungry - LOL. Thanks for commenting @tangmo

I love that there are no fast-food restaurants in your city in Chile! That's quite amazing!
I do have to disagree a little on the fast-food situation in the U.S. though. I lived in L.A. for three years (originally from Canada) and while yes it is overly saturated with fast-food restaurants, there's a huge growing culture of raw, vegan, organic and healthy restaurants and dieting. But it definitely depends where you go. And I know in some areas of Florida, for instance, it can be few and far between.
These quesadilla's look amazing by the way! And I liked the comment below suggesting that you post the calorie measure of your recipes, and potentially include some lower calorie options. I would love that!

You are correct, there is a growing culture of healthy eating. I should not have been so absolute. I was just attempting to make the point of how the majority treat food, I suppose. Fantastic feedback, by the way. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment @natashahall

No worries, I totally get it. It must seem like there's a lot of fast food in the U.S. when you come from a city without any fast food restaurants at all. It's really quite amazing that you're city is like that!

These look so good!!!!
I had quesadillas today but these look so much better!
Thanks for sharing and Steem on :)

These are definitely a unique quesadilla. Thanks so much for giving me some feedback @jcsteem
