I think colorful treats are just more fun, am I right???
So I had these flowers that bloomed in my backyard in the early part of summer. I don’t know what kind they are, maybe one of you guys will, but they are huge and gorgeous and, best of all, free. I almost didn’t want to pick them at first because they are the only ones and I didn’t want to destroy their beauty. However, then I realized that in a week or two they will die and then all that will be left is a memory of them. I decided it makes more since for them to be preserved in pictures than just memories.
Anyway, I actually made these bars inspired by how much I loved these flowers. I just kept thinking how pretty they would look together.
I know everyone probably has a recipe for sugar cookie bars, but you don’t have the recipe for these sugar cookie bars. I know, way to be humble right? Hey, I’m not bragging. I don’t really get any credit for these because they are a recipe that I adapted from my mom’s favorite sugar cookie recipe that she always used when I was little. She doesn’t remember where she got it from but the fact that it has stuck around this long should say how good it is. The point is that you need to try these.
I’ve always considered myself a die hard chocoholic and I am. Chocolate is a neccesary part of my sanity so don’t judge what I’m about to say, but every time I taste these I find myself wondering if chocolate is really all that and maybe we should all switch to vanilla. Is that crazy? Well, if it is then I guess you can judge me. I still stand by the fact that these are every bit as satisfying as chocolate.
They have this thick, chewy texture and the perfect ratio of frosting to bar. I used a few drops of beet juice for the icing because I try to avoid food dye as much as possible, yuck. You can’t taste the beet but it gives the best color.
As always, the recipe is available upon request. The first request gets an upvote.

Can we have the recipe 😉 ?
These sugar cookie bars actually remind me of the 'Tom Pouce' we eat in The Netherlands:

For once i will not talk about the food! It is great as usual, but the flower color .... @gringalicious that's my favorite one!
Mostly all of my daughter's dress/toys i buy are all this color only!!!
Well, thank you very much @progressivechef! You are so kind.
The Flower looks like a wild Orchid, a really sought after flower by gardeners and photographers. Its a pretty strong symbol of Natural beauty. The perfect Color match for those beautiful cookie bars. Love it. :)
Thanks for the info on the flower @healthyrecipe! I was so curious. I really appreciate all your kind compliments!
I'm drooling over here with those cookies...LOL

I'm so grateful @cookiemonster, thanks!
I say every time I see your posts I get so hungry. whats your favorite sweet?
Hmmm, I think my favorite sweet would be something almond vanilla flavor, like cake. However chocolate chip cookie dough in any form is probably a close second, hehe! Thank you so much @goldsilverguide!
Do you know those Dutch cookies called "Roze Koeken". A friend told me about them a while ago and I was going to make them... but I didn't of course.
Now I saw your recipe and they remind me of them a lot!
Hmm, no I've never heard of those cookies but I'll have to look into making them now. Thanks for reading @ewkaw!
Simple shape that isn't so simple to photograph. You solved it nicely again @gringalicious 😊 Upvoted, resteemed & DPS.
Thank you so much @photo-trail
Those cookies are too pretty to eat!) What to do about it? :P
Hmmm.....I know! Eat all the ugly ones and then decide that the prettier ones actually aren't too pretty to eat, haha. Thanks @yingyangchan!
Haha this could work :D
