Hi Friends... In one of my earlier blogs, I wrote about 'Pathrode', a delicious dish made using the Arbi leaves.
Today here I am with three more yummy recipes which are made using this 'Pathrode'.
Yes, that means going a step further with this delicious Pathrode!!
First we have to make this Pathrode, which we can eat as a side dish for a good lunch or dinner along with Rice and Dal!
Usually there is a habit of putting a little fresh Coconut Oil on the slices of this Pathrode which gives a very special and unique taste!
Here in our region we know making so many dishes using this Pathrode. So let me come with these three recipes..
- Pathrode Rawa Fry.
- Pathrode Gassy (a type of thick curry, which goes good with hot steeming rice).
- Pathrode Upkari (It's a type of upma made with this Pathrode!)
All the above mentioned things taste too good and are the favorites of my family members!! So I hope you too like it... :)
Let me explain this Pathrode Rawa fry...
We need pre made Pathrode.
Fine Rawa or Samolina - 2 table spoon
Coconut oil - half cup for shallow frying.
Salt- a pinch.
Chilli powder or pepper powder - one pinch.
Cut the Pathrode Roll into thin slices. In a bowl take some samolina (fine rawa), add a little salt and either chilli or pepper powder to it, mix well. Now take the slices and roll them in this 'rawa' wait for 5 minutes and shallow fry on both sides using pure coconut oil, using a open pan.
Here using the coconut oil is a must to get that particular taste!!
So yummy crispy Pathrode Rawa fry is ready to eat!!
This is a dish, which can be served as a evening snack... :)
2. Pathrode Gassi
Here we have to prepare a masala, and for that we need these things.
Grated coconut (coconut powder) - 1 cup.
Red chilies - 2
Fenugreek seeds - 1spoon.
White rice - 2 spoon.
Hing or asafoetida - one pinch
Roast Fenugreek, Hing, Rice and Chilies in one teaspoon coconut oil and grind it finely along with grated coconut, using a Mixie.
Chop a medium sized onion, fry these pieces in one table spoon coconut oil, in a thick bottom pan. When done, add the Masala to it and keep it on a low flame. When it starts boiling, add finely chopped, pre-made Pathrade pieces to this masala and keep stirring till it comes to boil again. Garnish with Cashew nuts.
This is a tasty side dish for Puri, Chapathies and Parathas!!
Now let's talk about the third dish - Pathrode Upkari (upma).
Cut the Pathrode into small square pieces.
For seasoning we need these things...
Coconut oil-1 table spoon.
Mustard seeds- 1teaspoon
Curry leaves 10 or 15
Red Chilli - 1
Make a seasoning using the above mentioned things and add the Pathrode pieces into it. Now add 2 table spoons full of grated fresh coconut mix well on low flame for a while. Sprinkle a pinch of salt powder if needed. (Pathrode already carries the salt and jaggery which we had added at the time of making).
Garnish with Cashew nuts and this is also a very good snack for tea time!!
So these are the three yummy, tasty delicious dishes we make here with our pre-made Pathrode!!
Hope you guys loved this post.... :)
