Have You Ever Tried This? It is 'Apa' or 'Appam'!! Another Yummy Dish for the Breakfast!

Hi Friends... Yesterday I came with Dosa and today here I am with another, much tastier dish called 'Apa' or 'Appam'!!

To start with...
We need the same Dosa Batter as I mentioned in my yesterday's blog... And to make this batter, you can read my yesterday's blog. :)

Now to make these Appam, we also need a specially designed Tawa or Fry - Pan called Appam-Pan which we get here in India!.

image

In my Mom or Grandma's time, we used to get this Appam tawa made of Kadappa Stone.

Now the famous Prestige Brand has started their non stick pans, to make these Appam, which has made our job much easier!

Clean the pan and place it on gas stove with medium flame. There will be either 7 or 9 depressions.(like that of a half-sphere).

Put few drops of pure coconut oil in all these depressions. Now pour the batter in all, close with a correct fitting lid. After 2 to 3 minutes, turn them and bake on the other side to get golden brown color... (the second side can be baked on a low flame...)

Here we have to use the thin handle of a spoon or a stick (we get this while buying the tawa), to turn these Appam...

Shift to a hot box and serve with either dry chutney powder, (mixed with a bit of coconut oil), or green chutney made with either Ginger, Pudina or Coriander leaves...

It may look like a long process, but certainly not!!
Within 10 to 15 minutes, we can make a box full of Appam!... :)

In Kerala they make this 'Appam' and generally serve it with either fish or chicken curries...

But I like to eat it with dry chutney powder or green pudina chutney... Our hunger gets doubled by the great aroma of coconut oil, we used here! .. ;)....

In this rainy season, it's really difficult to stick to photography. So I have decided to go for a change with these Food Blogs.... :)

Hope you liked this post. Please try it at home, and am eager to know your comments... :)

With love and regards, @geetharao...

Ooh, this reminds me of a Dutch dish: poffertjes! Or Dutch mini pancakes :)

However, this batter is made of basically yeast, milk, flour, sugar and salt.

Hehe I wanted to write the exact same!

RIGHT :D

Oh... This really looks almost the same in color too. I will try it using the ingredients you have mentioned... :)

Here's a recipe in English! Looking forward to see what you think :)

Interesting how some foods are around the world! In Scandinavia, they have something very similar to this; they are slightly sweet like a tiny round pancake, and we eat them either with jam or a little powdered sugar.

=^..^=

These look so cute, I'll check out your recipe! 😋
