Mouthgasmic Food Formulas: Use Your Leftovers to Make Dank FRITTATAS!

in #food7 years ago

We are grateful for the opportunity to share food here in the Garden of Eden!

One way we do that is by giving away free food every single day, and we extend the offer to you too because we are here to help one and all: if you or anyone you know wants or needs food, contact us - we will give you free food, no questions asked.

Another way we do that is by preparing daily feasts for our full time volunteers and having communal meals together, which we love to share on the blockchain!

Photographs are a great way to share food across time and space to bring people together, and we also love to share the recipes behind the photos to inspire you to recreate the yumminess in your own kitchen & share with family and friends!

Today, we want to share an excellent food formula for using leftovers to create delicious FRITTATA! We'll show you how to do some culinary wizardry to alchemize dank leftovers into another epic meal!

Step 1: Clean out the fridge. You can use any bits of meat, cheese, veggies, pastas, grains, and sauces you have on hand. We're starting our frittatas with a couple servings of this and that leftover from our sustainable feasts. Clockwise from bottom left, we have chicken sausages, Mexican "lasagna", quinoa and veggie stuffed peppers with cheese, black beans, tortellini in pesto, quinoa, chicken thighs with prosciutto and provolone, and a bit of spicy lamb vindaloo in the center. ~ Even our leftovers are epic!! ~

This is a LOT of food for a single frittata, so we'll split these leftovers into 2 great new dishes! Which is perfect, because we have a LOT of people to feed.

Step 2: Chop up leftovers, and spread them out in a cast iron skillet. For our first frittata, we're using tortellini, chicken thighs with prosciutto and provolone, chicken sausage, and mozzarella.

If you like cheese, be generous with it!

Step 3: Pour beaten eggs over the whole thing.

Step 4: Sprinkle more cheese on the top, and cook until set.

Step 1: For the leftovers in frittata #2, we're using Mexican "lasagna" (recipe coming soon!), black beans, stuffed peppers, spicy lamb vindaloo, and onions

Step 2: Put ingredients in a pan, and spread them out evenly so you get an even distribution of flavors in each bite.

Step 3: Cover with beaten eggs.

And cheese!!

Step 4: Cook until set. Voilà!

That's it! Only 4 steps for alchemizing your leftovers into another great meal, and your frittatas can be made in an infinite number of variations. Super economical, super sustainable, super DELICIOUS, EASY, and NUTRITIOUS!!

Serve and enjoy!

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!

We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is one of our rocket stoves in action - we built it by hand out of dirt.

Food is an honored & elemental part of our daily life in community. You can learn more about our unique, intimate, and super sustainable relationship with food here!

I’m so impressed with all the variety and the fact that you guys rely 0% on grocery stores. With all the different cheeses you eat, you must of mastered cheese making as well!

Not shopping at stores makes us very resourceful and creative! To us, it's a lot more fun to source food
by growing, foraging, trading, or making it ourselves rather than just go shopping.

Sustainable Mouthgasims!

Taste explosions!!

Mmmmmmmmmm

Do you have a restaurant?

No, but people can order meals from us for pick up, and we do catering by donation. We also give away a lot of food.

woow great

Same concept applies to pot stickers, dumplings, quick pickling and soups....All designed to deal with the leftovers.
You will see those recipes showing up on my Blog in the near future!

Yes it's fun to see the variety of delicious solutions people come up with for dealing with leftovers!

I really love what you have created here! Beautiful concept and the fact that you are feeding people and opening up to feeding whoever might need food across a platform of thousands of users is very noble. Thank you for your work!

Thanks we have been serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for almost a decade, and it's great to share our message on Steemit. Thanks for your support !

Definitely! You are making the world and Steemit a better place. Thank you for that :-)

I follow you and do not forget I share your article because I like it👍
health is very expensive. but to be healthy do not have to eat expensive. if anything can be processed why not !!!👌

Health does not have to be expensive! There are plenty of cheap or even free, sustainable, and accessible options for increasing wellness. Food is a great tool for keeping the body healthy, and it does not have to be expensive either.

Again, I Love your special touch with food.

Thanks, we do too :)
Hope to inspire others to give food more consideration!

Wow what wonderful dishes with the rest of the food. I appreciated your blog, today is my first day here and my first comment on the platform. Thank you for sharing @gardenofeden.

Welcome to Steemit! Honored that your first comment is on our post :)
May you find great success on here!

@gardenofeden hats off to you on this one!

Sounds like so many meals we've made here. It really makes leftovers dance. Great info and empowerment for further reclaiming our food! Yesterday's dinner is today's breakfast ;)

YES! The leftover dance FTW!! :)

This is interesting.
The frittatas is looking delicious. Thanks for encouraging recycling. This is food recycling.
You've reduced food wastage.

Exactly! We don't waste any food here anyway. What we don't eat goes to our chickens, or to our compost pile to make more Earth that will grow more food!
We encourage others to reduce food waste and think about how to use it more sustainably too.

Thanks for showing pictures of how you actually make it. The process is more dramatic when it's done your way, over a wood stove with a cast iron pan.

And as Dwight Schrute would say, "When you see how the sausage is made, all you want to do is make sausage."

You're welcome! We like to share a recipe at least once a week, especially of something that is accessible and relatable for most people to make. Not everyone cooks over fire, but this can still be made on a "standard" stovetop or oven. So glad to have you following along and grateful you enjoy our content @themanwithnoname!

EXCELLENT PUBLICATION, VERY INTERESTING, THAT GOD EVERY DAY FILLS YOU WITH MANY BLESSINGS, WHY YOU HELP PEOPLE THAT NEED, HERE IN MY COUNTRY VENEZUELA, YOU NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU, WHY THERE ARE MANY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WHO ARE DYING FOR LACK OF FOOD, SINCE THE ECONOMIC CRISIS DO NOT HAVE HOW TO BUY, AND THE PRICES OF FOOD INCREASE EACH SECOND AND THE SALARY DOES NOT REACH.

There are so many places in the world that need help like what we offer. We hope to inspire others to take care of each other too! Truly there are more than enough resources. If everyone takes care of one other person, then everyone will be taken care of.

Our hearts go out to your country and your people. We wish we could be everywhere and help everyone!

Splendid.
these images are makin me hungry mate :/

Hope you have plenty of great, sustainable food to enjoy in good company too, @abdulmanan :)

Thank you so much for your kind words brother :)

Nice and delicious food dishes. Really so fresh with great health benefits and full of nutrition. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome

This is a great idea, thank you for sharing! I don’t like most left overs, but this is a great way to use some up that maybe the flavors wont bother me as much. Always love your posts and keep up the good work, and I will keep voting!

You're welcome. Using leftovers is a great way to reduce food waste, and there are lots of ways to make them yummy and enjoyable! Hope you're inspired to give it a go @libertylemon :)

Ha, ha, ha. Your left overs are better than some of our meals! Our fritattas would be a very poor imitation of yours. Even so, it's a great idea for using up left overs, we would just have to add some fresh bits too.

LOL yes our leftovers are pretty great :) We often enjoy simply reheating and serving them, but we have a big crowd to feed and sometimes only one or two servings left. This is not only a delicious way to prepare them, but it helps stretch those few servings into enough for a big group!

another amazing delicious plats the best garden

You see everything very good and with very good techniques

We love cooking and we love food!

Sustainability at it's finest!!! So many great uses for everything--great food alchemy!

Thank you! Happy to find creative ways to recycle "waste" in every aspect of life - especially FOOD!

Easy peasy for the creative mind!

I congratulate you, I read in a story that in fast food businesses, are recycling, the leftovers in very clean containers and then prepare them for sick or badly called people in the street, excellent this post, and fills me with knowledge, since through these reading we learn to give without receiving anything in return. Thank @gardenofeden

You're welcome. It's great to hear about more people considering how to use "waste" to take care of others. Thanks for sharing!

wow, its make me hungry , hehehe

Our food has that effect on people :)

Great way to use leftovers!

Indeed! Using whatever is on hand is part of being super sustainable.

Looks really delicious and well made!! Good job!
I just made a post on how to make a chili cheese sauce for chili cheeseburger and nachos. Not with leftovers but its fast and easy and also delicious! Might wanna check it out

Do you cook over fire or some other creative cooking method and/or use sustainable food sources?

We were hungry with this post hahahaha... It looks delicious and good pictures

Very delicious, I will try to cook it just because I am a cooking hobby, thank you for sharing ☺

You're welcome~

Frutta cheese makes every food tastes good.., kindda lovin, it aswell..,

Cheese is plentiful and it looks delicious!

excellent!

Love this Fritada idea!!! :) I never throw food either.(not that i have time to cook so often! :)) ) I just find creative ways of using the left overs. As I live in the country side, if sometimes there is this problem of having extra and not being able to transform it or eat it... PachaMama has it or the animals! So, living off-grid is never wasting food! (one of the habits i dislike the most..)

Fritada rulz! :)

I was thinking when i start reading the post that fritada is someting like fried left-overs balls (mixed with flour and eggs) - this is how i imagine recycling it! :)

Thank you for being! :) One day I hope we will eat a dinner together in the Garden of Eden or in My Rainbow Paradise from over here :)

Yes anything we don't eat goes to the chickens or the compost pile so that it can grow more food :) There is no such thing as waste in a sustainable system!

Leftovers balls sound like a tasty way to use up leftovers, and you probably never have to make them exactly the same way twice.

Would be wonderful to share an epic sustainable feast with you one day @purplemoon!

Looks like an amazing way to clean out the fridge!
