My dear steemians,
Today, I want to talk about cow's milk! I'm tired of hearing people talking positively about the benefits of cow's milk while it's very bad for your health. I really love cows but their milk is not compatible with an adult diet.
I based my research on several serious sources and with my personal diet experience. I learned a few months ago that I am lactose intolerant. And since, I read about it, I stopped consuming dairy products and I saw the changes.
So, I will try to share my knowledge on this subject and tell you why you should reduce or even stop cow's milk and dairy.
Why do the media extol the benefits of cow's milk for health ??? Simply because dairy is a huge business in industrialized countries. They can't afford to lose their income ...
A bit like gluten and sugar. Sugar will be the subject of a future post :).
If you are interested in gluten, I invite you to read my last post:
[EN,FR] ๐พ๐ซ Why you should stop/reduce your gluten intake ???
5 reasons to reduce or stop cow's milk and dairy.
1- Cow's milk is allergenic
Allergy is a reaction of the immune system when it encounters a food allergen (a protein). In cow's milk, there is three times more protein than in breast milk.
This can cause allergies and pathologies such as:
- asthma
- eczema
- asthenia
- headache. migraine
- bronchitis
- nasopharyngitis
...
Lactose is a naturally occurring sugar in milk. To digest it, you have to have an enzyme called lactase, which mammals have from birth. This lactase production stops almost completely after weaning.
Therefore, continuing to consume dairy products causes bad effects such as intolerance.
Intolerance is triggered by the enzyme, which causes lactose to accumulate and ferment in the gut. What causes:
- bloating
- flatulence
- diarrhea
- nausea
- intestinal pain
...
2- Cow's milk is indigestible
Lactose and saturated fats in milk do not allow the human stomach to digest it. Casein adheres to the intestinal walls, causing the production of antibodies by the body and therefore more or less severe inflammation.
3- Cow's milk can bring many diseases
Depending on the milk origin and the feeding of the cows, we can find in the milk: pesticides, heavy metals, but also hormones ...
A good cocktail for your body, right?
The fatty acids contained in the milk would be harmful and would increase the chances of.
- breast cancer
- coronary disease
- pro-inflammatory effects.
Antibiotics can destroy your intestinal flora and weaken your immune system, which can no longer protect the body against disease.
4- Cow's milk is not good for bones
It is a popular idea to think that milk is good for bones! The industrials use it sales argument because it is a big lobbying in the agribusiness.
Superman, you are a lier because excessive intake of more than three dairy products per day weakened bone structure. It becomes more friable and therefore more prone to fractures.
The calcium content in milk is a myth. Sardines, spinach, almonds, nuts, oranges, seafood, white beans, chickpeas, spirulina or wholemeal bread.
5- Cow's milk generates cholesterol and acne
A high intake of milk or dairy products promotes the presence and increase of the bad cholesterol that is responsible for most cardiovascular diseases.
Dihydrotestosterone, present in milk, is the hormone of acne and that's what activates the production of sebum therefore acne.
In summary,
There is nothing in dairy products and cow's milk that can not be found elsewhere in other foods.
There are many alternatives and lactose-free products today. I advise you to taste the plant milks like almond milk, coconut milk or rice milk that are very tasty!

I gave up meat and dairy over 2 years ago. Everything is just so much better without it. I have no inflammation, I used to get serious sinus and chest infections. I also used to get really bad digestive discomfort after drinking or consumption anything with dairy in it.
So glad to see you doing a post like this @flamingirl. It is really great as you have such a large reach with your following.
Keep up the great work. ๐
Thank you for your comment @moonunit! It's great to share your experience with us! All people who have stopped milk and/or meat, feel much better! I am convinced that it is good for health and for the planet. At the moment I consume meat occasionally but I think I will stop a day too!
Have a Nice Sunday! ๐

You're welcome @apiprincz! Happy to share with you =)
So nice of you dear. Can't wait for your next sush up. Go @flaminggirl
thanks for good writing. I could not know about it .
so nice artical dear @flamingirl nice to read it thanks for sharing this is the best article read on steem it hope you also visit my blog
This is really informative post, and in past i heard about this subject and in my opinion when people write about this subject in numbers then there is something truth, but the media cannot reveal the real news because everything is commercial and they can't afford to lose the profits and in my opinion people who advertise this, possibly they don't intake it and instead they are encouraging other people so that their wallet's weightage should increase. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. ๐
You make it sound like milk is only thought of as healthy because of industrialism.
Europeans have been drinking milk and eating cheese for a long long time, way before we even had corporations.
I try to drink at least a half liter each day. It's a great source of energy and nutrition.
Before, milk, like many other foods, was much healthier because much less modified. There are some serious studies (which are not funded by industry giants), which show that it is bad for the adult organism. But you are free to think what you want;) Good Sunday!
:-) you too, I will never give up cheese!
I can understand... cheese is life!!! But I can't anymore... sniffffffff
Nice post. Really a good topic as me also lactose intolerant .
and the points are true and those effects but i don't think it happens to everyone. Cow milk does suit many people and they really benefit them a lot. But Cow milk are really bad for lactose intolerant people.
all bro I really like all of your posts. It conveys the mind of everyone. To post such a lot of thank you. Do not you know how this comment was made, if you like it, will certainly upvote.
Bon dimanche ๐
I love this. I have been 100% dairy free for over a year now, but meat free for nearly 7 years. I feel so much better, and not bloated or backed up. Thank you!
interesting fact๐ค
since I was a child I did not like milk, I thought I was missing something wonderful for my health, now I feel better when reading this :D
Thank you for this post.
I am trying to reduce my diary since last year and I have less stomach pain since then.
Ohh boy. As a fulani man, our culture is definitely link to cows and milk, lool. It will be tough to change this. I will try speaking to my wife about it, wish me good luck ! hahahah
Thanks for the great article. I never was a huge milk drinker in the past but there sure was cheese. I can say you feel 100 times better when you ditch it
We stopped drinking cow's milk about a year ago, cheese as well. Both of us feel stronger and ahve lost weight.
I agree with your article but I would add that raw milk is actually very healthy for people and provides many benefits that pasteurized milk does not. People in many areas around the US can't get fresh raw milk unfortunately so give it a try if you can get your hands on some.
Over the years I have learnt myself that milk has been something very difficult to digest. On a recent scan I've also been advised that I am slightly lactose intolerant (not sure what the slighty means to be honest).
Few years ago I started to only have hot chocolate with soy milk (I'm not sure it's the best alternative) but it is definitely much better! For many years my breakfast would be hot chocolate and I would always be bloated, but nobody had ever questioned my diet! I guess things have changed a lot nowadays with people more and more aware about what they consume.
Saying all that Guilly used to drink milk instead of water (I know what?!) and when he stopped he significantly dropped weight and was digesting much better. So I'm convinced straight milk isn't good for adults.
I was told though that while Milk isn't good for you cheese - yogurt are good products / there are a lot of different contradictory information being shared online. What's your view @flamingirl on yogurt and cheese (especially for a french person :-p).
This is pretty interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Hii @flamingirl
Iโm a medico and i really got impressed with your post .. using simple terms that everyone can understand, you did a great job. One small suggestion from my side that, People in developing countries like mine ( India) prefer cow milk for infants rather than breat feeding. If you hav mentioned about this, It would be great.
Thank you and keep posting.
You need to get your facts right! First of all: while it is true that we cannot digest milk as adults because we no longer have the enzymes to do so, dairy products like yogurt, kefir, cheese, etc have been pre digested for us. So we get protein, pro biotics, and aminoacids......... COMMERCIAL pastorized dairy is not good for your diet BUT genuine dairy made by local farmers in Europe are not only great for health, they bring nutrients that you cannot find in other food sources!!!! ..... when people start having issues with dairy products look no further than pastorization, homogenization, antibiotics in their food, GMO soy food etc etc etc ...... STOP criminalizing good food sources because you have not made it yourself and are a simple ignorant consumer thinking they found the fountain of youth without exploring further ........... this is the same crap they gave to gluten when in fact the problem was that wheat is now GMO, sprayed with glyphosate, bleached and the most nutrient content, wheat germ, is removed and sold to vitamin companies ....... and so you hear idiots saying wheat is bad and they absolutely know nothing about it. They cannot even recognise the plant!!!! ...... I only buy milk products if they are raw milk, from reputable sources, same for wheat ...... and letโs remember that Italians are rated the healthiest people in the world, their diet is 40% wheat, 20% dairy!!!!! You need GOOD FOOD not elimination of food categories
