My Dinner - A Fruit Platter 水果拼盘

Yesterday I received a box of fruit, which my friend mailed from Guangdong.The fruit in the box is the passion fruit, also known as the egg fruit, which is in the subtropical zone.Passion fruit has yellow and purple two kinds of color, what I receive is purple.Passion fruit contains a lot of beneficial substances on the human body, but also known as "king of VC" in fruit, unique taste.
I've been taking weight recently, and I'm going to have a light dinner,So I made a fruit platter instead of dinner.

Great pictures, I enjoyed them a lot. Passion fruit is definitely one of my favorites to eat. I actually didn't know there were health benefits to eating it. I actually just really love eating them for the taste. :)

Passion fruit is a good source of nutrients, especially fiber, vitamin C and vitamin A.

A single purple passion fruit of about 18 grams contains (1):

Calories: 17
Fiber: 2 grams
Vitamin C: 9% of the RDI
Vitamin A: 8% of the RDI
Iron: 2% of the RDI
Potassium: 2% of the RDI

This may not seem like much, but these are the values for a single, small fruit that contains only 17 calories. Calorie for calorie, it’s a good source of fiber, vitamin C and vitamin A.

It’s also rich in beneficial plant compounds, including carotenoids and polyphenols.

In fact, one analysis found that passion fruit was richer in polyphenols than many other tropical fruits, including banana, lychee, mango, papaya and pineapple (2).

Additionally, passion fruit contains a small amount of iron.

Your body doesn’t usually absorb iron from plants very well. However, the iron in passion fruit comes with a lot of vitamin C, which is known to enhance iron’s absorption (3).

Bottom Line: Passion fruit is a good source of fiber, vitamin C and vitamin A. Calorie for calorie, it’s a nutrient-dense fruit.

Whenever I come across the Passion fruit I try to buy as many my budget will allow. The peel of the passion fruit works wonders to reduce inflammation. I believe the passion fruit is on of the most under valued fruits. Thank you for bringing more insight to the fruit.

We have this fruit too here in Brazil but it is yellow and called Maracuja. I already wrote about it.
