Join Me as I Make My Famous Mango Avocado Salsa!

in #food6 years ago (edited)

Hi Friends!

Every Monday my sister @maryjaney comes over to film a Steem Sister Show episode and today I decided to surprise her with some homemade mango avocado salsa! This is literally my favorite dip to make. It is sooo easy and all my friends request it when I go to a party or bbq.

I guess that's why I'm self proclaiming it to be famous. It's famous with my friends.

In this video, I show you just how easy it is to whip this together and I promise that everyone will love it!

The Recipe

  • Half of a sweet onion
  • Half of a Jalepeno (to taste)
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 garlic clove - minced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt, pepper, cumin, cayenne pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder to taste
  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 3 avocados

There is only ONE big secret to this recipe - and that is to blend all but the last two ingredients in a food chopper. By putting all the spices and flavors together - it helps spread the flavor much better than a rough chop would do.

From there - it's super simple. Chop and mix in the frozen mango chunks, and then mix in fresh, mashed avocado right before serving. The mango/onion mixture will be good in the fridge for several days and the flavor will continue to deepen.

This makes it great for bringing to parties. Simply bring the mango mixture and fresh avocados, then quickly mix together right there at the party. No need for your guacamole to start turning brown!

Thanks for Watching!

I hope you guys enjoyed this video! I have done very few cooking or food posts - but I really do love to cook! I guess I felt inspired by the great @alphasteem! If you guys have any questions on throwing this recipe together - let me know!

XO, Lea

Very nicely done! ❤️ Looks delicious! haha I'm sure that it's famous!

haha thanks alpha! My cooking videos are no where near your level - but it's kind of fun to play around with every once in a while! :)

I love mango and avocado! Never tried them together but I will have to give it a try now. I can just imagine the two flavors blended together in to a yummy dip. Thanks for the recipe!

Oooh it is super good! You'll have to let me know what you think if you ever try it!

That's another thing I miss!!! Food processors!!! They're like God's gift to kitchens. Idk why I never thought of blending cumin in...hm I gotta try that if that's the secret one.

I hope I remember this when I'm back in the states because I want to try it and see if it comes out tasting good or not!

And it's ok to decapitate the cilantro's head. I'd use the whole thing lol I'm kind of obsessed with cilantro.

Oooh yeah having good kitchen equipment (like food processors) can make all the difference.

Glad you weren't off put by my abuse to the cilantro. hahah I love it too!

A while back I had spicey mango marmalade and loved it! I have the funny feeling I'm gonna like this salsa a lot too! I'm gonna test this recipe for sure! Thanks!

Oooh that marmalade sounds yummy! Yeah, you'll totally love this then! You'll have to let me know what you think if you end up trying it. :)

Yeah, marmalade was gone in no time! I have some time to do so this weekend :)

Mmm! That sounds yummy!

Avocado + Lime + Cilantro flavour is amazing. I made a Guacamole once for a party I threw and I was so surprised at how it just effortlessly tastes great.

Yes, you can't go wrong with those flavor combinations!! I'm glad you enjoyed this post!

Wooo, it is a recipe that mixes flavors, salty, sweet and acid, it is quite interesting I must try it, I must organize a barbecue to enjoy it jejee
regards

Oooh that sounds like a great plan!! Nothing says summer like a bbq and a fresh, yummy dip like this! You'll have to let me know what you think if you decide to try it. :)

Hiii...coruscate.

I wont mind trying out that recipe...it sure would be delicious @coruscate

Thanks for such a detailed recipe! It should be so delicious!

ummm yes please! I love a good mango salsa/guac. Great video! Yes salsas and guacs are so easy and simple to make but are so flavorful. haha I would probably leave out the jalapeno, I tend to like more mild and less spicy foods. lol. I have a pretty famous guacamole too...fairly similar to your recipe, minus the mangoes, and the jalapeno. haha Anways, cool video.
