There might be something to that. I just moved to a small city in Jiangxi, called "jingdezhen". And I found out a lot of China's best porcelain, pottery, and ceramic dish wares come from this little small town. They have porcelain shops everywhere. Here's a picture of one of the hundreds of porcelain & ceramic shops they have here. They even have these huge colossal vases and water pots.

Wow yeah. I know that place. My colleague told me about it when I was talking about the glass straws I used to see. It is said that this place has the best quality of ceramic and porcelain products.

Yep, that might have solved our mystery of why everyone has the same dishware. The merchants are perhaps getting it from one source. I saw them lugging these ceramic wares into their cars and ordering them to be shipped to other cities.
