Not a Weather Too Cold for Ice Cream. A Guilt-Free Way to Enjoy It

in #food7 years ago

Too cold for ice cream?

Every kid loves ice cream.

Yeah! Even the kid in me.

Last weekend, I was able to buy some good strawberries for $1 per 250g. I don't know elsewhere in the world, but here in the UAE I think that price is fair enough. There are times of the year when strawberries really get so expensive, I do not buy them.

I love munching on these bright, red strawberries! Yuuummmm!!!!

Apart from being delicious, strawberries are rich in antioxodants and are packed with vitamins and minerals too.

Though at home, I think I am the only one who does. Hubby @kennyroy eats from time to time, and the kids just take a small bite.

Kids love strawberry flavor

Strawberry candy.

Strawberry yoghurt.

Strawberry milk.

Even Strawberry flavored medicine when they are sick.

Oh! Did I forget to mention strawberry ice cream?!

Little Miss even requested for strawberry ice cream for our New Year's eve dessert!

2-in-1

Since they love strawberry yoghurt and strawberry ice cream, I decided to make,

Strawberry Yoghurt Ice Cream!! -- I can't imagine how many times I typed the word "strawberry" in the last 5 minutes already. LOL.

How to Make Strawberry Yoghurt Ice Cream - Easy as 1, 2, 3!

The first recipe I found online just called for fresh strawberries to be frozen then processed in a blender, mix in the yoghurt then freeze. You can opt to add honey for a little sweetness, but I decided to go a more sinful way. 😂😅

What you'll need:

☆ 250grams fresh strawberries
☆ 400 grams greek yoghurt
☆ 1/2 cup sugar
☆ water

Step 1. Make strawberry jam.

Dice your strawberries, put them in a pan. Put the sugar and add water just enough to cover the strawberries. Let it simmer for at least 10 minutes or until you get a jelly-like consistency.

Set aside and let cool.

Step 2. Mix the strawberry jam with the yoghurt.

Once the jam has cooled down, pour it on your yoghurt and mix thoroughly.

Try not to eat your mixture yet. We still need to get to the last step! 😅

Step 3. Freeze

Put the mixture in a tightly covered container and freeze for a 4-6 hours.

Enjoy your ice cream with less guilt!
