My favorite CHIPOTLE SALSA recipe
I’ve decided to share my recipe for fresh homemade chipotle salsa that I’m sure you will love. It is versatile in that you can modify the ingredients to your personal preferences.
Some people want it more or less chunky or more garlic, less pepper. You get the idea.
These are the ingredients you will need:
1 medium Onion (quartered)
1 30oz can of Diced Tomatoes
1 lb Tomatillos (husked, rinsed and quartered)
1 heaping Tbs. minced Garlic
2 Limes
1/4 cup chopped Cilantro (rinsed)
1 4-6oz can Chipotles in Adobo Sauce
1 Tbs. ground Black Pepper
1 Tbs. Cumin
1 Tbs. Coriander
1 Tbs. Oregano
1 Tbs. Salt
First husk and rinse the tomatillos. This is what it should look like:
It calls for heaping garlic. I obviously like to add heaping and overflowing garlic!
Place chopped onion, tomatillos, garlic, juice from 2 limes, and loads of cilantro in blender or food processor. I like extra cilantro but if you are one of those weirdos that doesn’t, no worries, do as you wish. Blend until it’s nice and chunky.
Then add the can of chipotle peppers and blend again.
Pour can of diced tomatoes into a pitcher or bowl. If you’d prefer a smoother, less chunky salsa and by all means, process the canned tomatoes.
Combine the processed ingredients together with the diced tomatoes.
Add spices…. black pepper, cumin, coriander, oregano and salt and stir.
Tada… yummy chipotle salsa, ready to pour! Enjoy with dishes like flautas, tacos, and of course your favorite tortilla chips!

Hi @annietime,
This looks like a great recipe! Can I get those tomtillos from any grocery store, or do I have to get these at a special place?
Thanks for posting, I'm going to be eating this real soon!
