πŸ‡πŸ‘ Green Smoothie Of The Day: Peachy Grape Morning Bliss πŸ‘πŸ‡

It's green smoothie time on my side of the world! Green smoothies are an awesome way to sneak leafy greens into your daily diet. Though adding greens to smoothies can sometimes taste like there is a grassy knoll hiding in your breakfast, if you get the ingredients and amounts right these green morning drinks taste so good.

Green smoothies are nothing new. We have been drinking one every day for the past 5 or 6 years. While you can buy a slurp-worthy spinach or red beet smoothie in the supermarket, making your own is so much better and cheaper. You control the ingredients and you can make flavor adjustments to your family needs. No added sugar, preservatives or anything else you’d like to monitor more closely.

If you haven't jumped on the green smoothie hype just yet, now might be the time. If you are just new try the following ratio to make sure it doesn't taste too green: 2 cups leafy greens/3 cups fruits of your choice/2 cups liquid base of your choice. This makes about a 32 ounce or 1-liter smoothie which is enough to serve 2 people for breakfast.

Also, to make sure you make a filling smoothie, don't forget to add some fats and protein too. This can be in the form of an avocado, oats, seeds, nuts, coconut milk or coconut oil.

Later you can tweak this basic recipe by adding more greens and other veggies such as carrots, red beets or broccoli.

Ingredients (serves 2 for breakfast)

2 cups fresh spinach, packed
1.5-2 cups coconut water or water
2 cups grapes
1 cup peaches
1 small avocado
2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
Hemp hearts (optional topping)

Directions

  1. Blend coconut water and spinach until smooth. Add other ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick at more coconut water. If you have a high-speed blender you can throw everything in at once.
  2. Top with superfoods/topping if you like. We used hemp hearts.

Are you still in Europe btw???

Nope home in Cambodia. Wanted to stay in Europe for steemfest but have to move house in a month. Going down to the coast in a few days to look for a house with a hopefully beautiful garden in the middle of Kep's jungle. Hope you are doing well too. Are you going to steemfest?

Green smoothies have long been my favorites. I tried your recipe with holy basil and it was delicious!!

Made it yesterday too since I had a cold and have been eating and drinking a lot of holy basil, ginger, and turmeric.

It is so delicious!!

Wow! I need it now to refresh my self with this green smoothie! Especially here we have summer in Mauritius, it's hot climate, i have to start me also to prepare different smoothie, i want to ask you when you add spinach to your smoothie it will not change the taste of fruits? Because me never i try it, here have spinach too much.

If you opt for sweet fruits you wont taste the spinach! I have a free ebook on my website about green smoothies. You can download it here: http://www.body-in-balance.org/greensmoothie/

Thank you for this intriguing post, I really enjoyed it! If you’re looking for a new Steemit friend, feel free to follow and I’ll follow you back!
