FOODS FOR A BETTER, RESTFUL SLEEP ( And Some to Avoid)

Some nights as you take a warm or cold bath and crawl into your bed, ( well made with a clean bedsheets), you hardly stay ten minutes before you sleep off. However, on some other nights, you find yourself, rolling from one corner of the big bed to the other, you sometimes take up a book to read, hoping to doze off. But still no sleep. You are not alone in this experience. It happens to many of us everyday.

A lot of things can disrupt sleep medically. However, it can also be associated with what you ate as dinner.

Below, I shared a few of the foods that can induce sleep. Let's see :

NOTE: DO NOT EAT TOO MUCH AT NIGHT

FOODS THAT MAKES YOU SLEEP BETTER
(I) KIWI This is a fruit. It has a lot of vitamin C, E Folate and a brain chemical which is beneficial for treating sleep disorder.

According to a research by Asia Pac J Clin, 24 people were made to eat Kiwi an hour before they slept. This took a space of four weeks. The sleep time, sleep onset, wake up time before and after eating kiwi were recorded. He found out that waking up time was decreased while total sleep time and efficiency increased tremendously. Apparently Kiwi consumption made an impact.

(ii) OMEGA 3 SUPPLEMENTS

This for real help children to get extra sleep and it improves their brain . Ensure, you have this at home and your kids should take it.

(iii) WHOLE GRAIN CRACKER

This is a healthy pre-bed choice of food. It is a carb, and majorly carbs if eaten 1-2 hours before sleep, releases serotonin , which promotes sleep.

(iv) BANANAS

This is a good source of magnesium. It rests or calms the hormones responsible for stress and thereby promote sleep.

Eggs also are among them. There are other foods that help you sleep well. This post however will not cover all. However, Let me quickly mention what you must avoid.

NOTE
(I) Do not eat too much at night
(Ii)Do not eat three hours before bed time.
(Iii)Do not eat chocolate before sleeping
(Iv) Do not eat fatty foods before going to bed
(V)No alcohol before going to bed.

After a streessful day, your body needs rest. Enough of it. Your body will give it if you do not eat that food which makes you stay awake .

If you are in Nigeria like me, we have kiwi. Its expensive though.
