Crocus is in the Iris family that consists of approximately 90 species of perennials that grow from bulbs. There are many cultivated varieties that bloom in the spring, autumn, and winter. Their beautiful flowers are cup-shaped and can be found in white, violet, yellow, and orange. They are very easy to care for and thrive in container gardens or inside as houseplants. The Crocus Vernus is an early spring bloomer that is native to the alpine areas of the Pyrenees, Alps, and the Carpathians.

Facts:
Crocus prefers partial shade to full sunshine and well-draining soil. They prefer zones 3 to 8 and grow between 0.25 to 0.3 feet in height. The standard variety blooms in early spring and is non-invasive.
