Fishery cages are being cultivated in open water in Jessore's Manirampur. Under the initiative of Fisheries Department, it is being cultivated by financing the Fisheries Farming Technology Services extension project at the union level.
jessore fishAccording to the Upazila Fisheries Department, monsoon tilapia fish have been cultivated in floating cages as well as fish farming in the open water bodies of different rivers, haors and bamars of the upazila under the financing of fish farming technology service expansion project at the union level. Forming a group of 20 fishermen, setting up 10 floating cages, it has been cultivated by releasing one thousand monsox tilapia fish fish in the cage.
Floating cage fish farming is found near Jalepara village of Comalpur village in Jhampa Bamr of Jhenidah upazila.
Fishery farmer Shyamal Biswas said that fish farming in floating cages is a new way for us to cultivate fish in floating cages. With the support of the Upazila Fisheries Office, we were enchanted by this cultivation. The floating cage, fish pona, and fish food will be spent on 15 thousand rupees per cage. Fish will be filled in four months time. It is expected that at least 20 thousand rupees will be available from every cage without the cost.
Manirampur Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Biswajit Kumar Deb said that fish farming is a profitable project in floating cages. Fisheries production is possible at low cost, which is an additional income source for farmers. Generally, the fish in this technology can be cultivated in floating cages in the open water bodies of the river, river haor and bahors, which contain water throughout the year. If this technology is implemented, then it will be possible to export outside the local fish needs.
