Can you point out where I said that 'no one is working on a flat earth map'? Do you strawman much? Do you know what a strawman argument IS?
What I SAID that you CONSTRUED as 'no one is working on it', was actually, " instead of focusing [see the word FOCUSING] on making a correct map, which should be EASY since we have so much information about the world, we're going to repeat incorrect thought experiments".
and I said that AFTER I said, "Yes, I know that we've had thousands of years to think about this. But we just aren't able to come up with a map other than a globe to work with."
Which in NO WAY STATES OR IMPLIES that I believe 'no one is working on it', but what the flat earth community is DOING, is doing thousands upon thousands of erroneous thought experiments using a false model... a model of a GLOBE.
And you don't see a problem USING A GLOBE MAP, as a model of flat earth? Wow.
It's a MODEL OF A GLOBE!!! If you say the earth is flat, but in THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF THOUGHT, the BEST map you have is a map of a GLOBE, you do not consider this a SERIOUS problem?
PLUS, people are not just 'using it [the globe projection map] as a 'basic visual concept', they are using it to CONDUCT THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS. Which one CANNOT DO! It's a fourth grade science fair project fail to do thought experiments on a provably false model!
It's as if I were doing an experiment to prove the efficiency of a supersonic mode of travel, but was using a horse and buggy as my model and claiming, well, that's the best model of transportation I have to work with. It's a complete and utter logical failure that one cannot consider themselves intelligent for making.
Again, as I pointed out, which you MUST have completely ignored, is that we HAVE ALL OF THE CORRECT LATITUDES AND LONGITUDES AND CORRECT DISTANCES BETWEEN POINTS ON THE EARTH.
With such information it should be FANTASTICALLY EASY to create an auto cad or other computer program of the earth with correct distances between points and correct latitudes and longitudes.
IF THE EARTH WERE FLAT, and we're in the computer age, a SIMPLE program that a smart teenager could create should be able to create a correct map of the earth! It would be FAR FAR harder to create a CORRECT model of earth with correct distances and latitudes and longitudes and place that information onto a GLOBE if the earth were flat, than it would to place it on a flat model.
Do you GET that? IF WE LIVED ON A FLAT PLANE, it should be FANTASTICALLY EASY to put in the enormous amount off KNOWN INFORMATION into a computer and create a correct model of a FLAT PLANE!
Yet NO ONE has been able to do such a thing in thousands of years, or even since the advent of computing!
But you do not see a problem with this?
What do you think is holding back someone creating a computer program translating the information from a flat plane onto a flat model?
I'd be interested in hearing what you think the bottleneck in this innovation is. Companies do this for products they create all of the time. I have a friend who works for a company called IDEO, and in a few hours, he can take a customer's specs for a product and create a working computer model of it.
Within DAYS he can have a 3d printed MODEL of the product.
So, why haven't flat earthers been able to do such a thing since the advent of the computer? Maybe they could pool some funds and hire IDEO to create their computer model... since it seems that none of them have access to any Auto Cad programs or university advanced mathematics computers.... Which, in and of itself, makes you wonder how scientific these people are if none of them seem to have Auto Cad or access to a university computer.
But again, what do you think the bottleneck in this process is?
The bottleneck? It's time and money really, or at least for me. I started working on a model last winter in Unreal 4 and made some progress but I ended up working on other projects trying to disprove some false claims made by flat earthers. I made a few videos but I work full time so I can't devote any serious time towards modelling. Others have made maps they claim are correct as far as flight distances and times (adjusting for true air speed) and sun/moon position, but I haven't really looked at them closely. The visual effect of the sun setting and rising is what I was focusing on in my flat earth model. When I have time I will incorporate the different maps into my model and see how they compare to reality.
