The flames are mostly for decoration since the flaming does not substantially change the flavor of the drinks, however, it changes the aroma and softens the drink a bit since it burns the excess of alcohol. The flamed cocktails are more striking in a low light environment where the flames are much more visible and spectacular.
To perform the technique of flaming, those cocktails and other mixed beverages, the following procedures must be followed:
Heat the glass or cocktail glass a little, so that the temperature change does not blow the glass. Just fill it with hot water and then remove it.
Take into account that the glass or cup is resistant to the heat produced by the fire.
Prepare the cocktail.
Pour the flammable liquor into a long spoon.
Turn on the flammable alcohol that has been poured into the spoon (it is advisable to use a long lighter).
Pour the liquor into flames - still in the spoon - over the cocktail very carefully.
Serve the cocktail quickly, before the alcohol is consumed.
Turn off the fire before drinking it, although you can also drink it with a straw without turning it off, you have to drink it very fast so that the straw does not melt.
You should not be afraid that the cocktail is hot, since the fire causes the alcohol of the ingredient that is above to be consumed, but the cocktail will not be heated.
