RE: My thoughts on flags for disagreement on rewards

in #flags7 years ago (edited)

but when we do - they are fighting again.

Them fighting means that they care about the future of the platform, even more so than those just placing autovotes and rewarding the same authors constantly without caring what is going on. Especially if they flag they are sacrificing curation rewards so that the daily distribution of rewards goes to everyone else instead, such as minnows.

Censorship make not make an individual post go away, but if the person leaves the platform, the censorship worked.

That's not censorship, if they leave because of a few flags that have removed some of their pending payouts, that's their problem. Flags are there for a reason even though those reasons can consist of many different things.

if flagging each other would make the rewards trickle down farther - you have my full permission to keep battling it out.

I haven't seen many minnows who write quality content and low rewards get flagged for disagreement of rewards, have you?

All flags I've seen so far from the usual suspects casting them have been on users already in the top earning lists, and the way they have reacted to a few dollars being removed from their posts has been nothing less than disgusting.

Think of the reward pool as a pie, if your mother tells you you can't have 2 pieces and instead shares that piece among all 8 of you without getting a piece for herself.

Steemit equals Fight Club. And you are all the same person maybe???

Are you accusing me of being someone else on the platform doing the flags?

Sort:

No, no. lol. I am not accusing any of you of anything - especially not you. I'm an accountant anyway and do not make accusations at all.

I'm just saying a good half of the bigs are anons so isn't that the theme of fight club? Not knowing who you are?

No I am not seeing flagging of little guys - although if more flagging occurred on the bot comments and "nices" that might help.

The people I ran into being flagged in the last couple of days did not seem to be the "usual suspect" types, but I will yield to your better knowledge on that.

Like jerrybanfield told me and like I did not listen to today - "ignore the whales and the administration and just post your content." I'm going back to it and let you all fight it out until someone falls.

I'm in the weight loss and social media marketing niches and steemit has pulled me into all other kinds of distractions. Today being a great example.

I still love michelle's writing and her awesome example and tutorials for authors like me. I'm really disappointed in this turn of events. If she's scheming the rewards - which I have no idea - it's not like she's the only one.

Like I said - knock yourselves out - collectively! We'll get Brad Pitt and make a movie.

With the "usual suspects" I meant the usual bigger accounts that do the flagging.

Like jerrybanfield told me and like I did not listen to today - "ignore the whales and the administration and just post your content."

Exactly, he didn't cry or whine about a few flags or quit the platform cause of it.

If she's scheming the rewards - which I have no idea - it's not like she's the only one.

Being on autovotes doesn't mean she's undeserving of the votes she gets and I'm sure it took a lot of work to get there, same with my account. But her reaction to 1 flag which later lead to more flags was what was the most disappointing to me, especially from a user that has been here as long as most of us oldtimers.

I might have to recommend people to re-read the whitepaper every now and then.

I've been following jerry for a long time on a few platforms and he definitely rolls with the punches. He is a roll model for me just like michelle is.

Note to self - If I ever succeed enough to get a flag here - do not react in a way to cause more flags. Lord, give me strength.

And as to white papers or blue ones or smt ones. Ergh...

I totally understand resistance to reading the blue paper (highly technical) and the SMT papers (highly technical)^2 but the white paper...

You said you were an accountant. The white paper should not be a difficult read for you.

Oh please do not tell Jerry is a role model - would make me really sad - he is good in self promoting bull shit and has a thick skin, that is true. But that is all I would consider positive about him

He's helped me a lot for a couple of years - all for free. One day soon, I might even publish the course I have 80% done thanks to his free tutorials.

I like jerry because he keeps going no matter what and he's goofy and he takes credit for his mistakes and tries to fix them.

Jerry's enthusiasm is the reason I joined steemit in June after putting it on my list to look into in April. That and a few key tsusers suggesting it.

I'm glad I joined no matter what. My traffic is up everywhere and I have lots of new connections on all platforms. Some people are even interested in hearing my weight loss info! This makes all the crazy effort worth it.

Hmmmm - it is great to have you here as you are a good content creator with Jerry I have my doubts reading the way he (or who ever writes for him) is expressing himself, am especially not happy to have him as a witness as that require skills he does not have, he brought in a lot but he is also benefitting more than others here.

But no worries, maybe he can be a nice chap too - it is just my personal dislike maybe - hope I am wrong, keep on steeming

I think the witness thing is a distraction from Jerry's real skills. He's a good cheerleader and could get a bunch of people going if he focused on that. He does post something every week at least to help minnows in some way. Jerry has to find his own way and figuring out the technical side is always something he does (so boring to me) so that's why he is all up in the platform sie of things.

Jerry came in here like a bull in a china shop and it was a wonder to see. You could not pay me enough money to get involved at the top here and he jumped in with all feet. This place is a constant mystery and confusion in every way so I ignore all the stuff "up there" as best I can but I saw the splash.

So @gmichelbkk who writes for jerry, is in Thailand with me and does great reviews of fancy hotels he just wanders in and out of for little jaunts. Very inspiring and different than how I live here.

I get michel's weekly "jerry" summary in my email and it's exactly what I want - a brief summary of whatever jerry has been mouthing off about this week (on all platforms) so I can go look at anything pertinent to my life.

Jerry's given me a lot of steemit advice in comments and support here, and even wrote a post because of one of my questions.

Q: Jerry OMG! Help! What is an smt and should I try to learn it as a new minnow. I still can't format my posts well.

A: To all minnow friends: here's what an smt is in 200 words. Be optimistic and believe it is a good thing. Just ignore it and just keep posting if you are new.

So I appreciated that and stopped trying to discern what this thing is.

Jerry started using michel as a proofreader and editor and now gives him all kinds of work since they are like minded and work well together and jerry is only one person. He gives all the credit as a way of helping michel grow to - ie: sharing the wealth. Jerry is highly generous and impulsive and also loyal and helps minnows regularly.

Jerry brought in over 10K in steemit members and I really wish I knew how many of them are still active. Those would all probably be good people because most of us would be content creators following his courses.

At the time May/June he was saying it was a good place to post your links to other content, make some income on it, and get traffic. That has proved to be true in my case. My traffic is up nicely. Other people like me came in then.

This is a place where few make it to 45 rep and fewer still over 50. So those still here from the June flood might be good. I try to look at growing the content creators on steemit and it's kind of bleak. Jerry supports us down here and that helps.

Both of these guys, jerry and michel, are successful family men in a world of losers and have a nice houses and families. Sort of like your good life, Uwe. I connect with everyone I encounter, but I only follow the cool ones.
