Five Facts About Me - A Steem Challenge

in #fivefacts7 years ago (edited)

My dear @abigail-dantes threw down the gauntlet on this challenge which I happily accepted. I am to share 5 facts about me. I had fun writing this post. I hope you have fun reading it.

Fact 1 - Walking billboard

I'm a natural promoter of things, books and ideas I believe in. I'm an edifier of people and causes I care about and love. I've been told for years by my friends that I should blog about everything I enthusiastically tell them about such as my love affair with of double-strand dental flossers.

I would say something like,"Have you ever tried one of these?! I used to hate flossing but now I love it! All because this floss has the extra strand. It makes all the difference." Then I would end up leaving behind a handful of double-strand dental flossers.

Fact 2 - Details matter

I research the heck out of everything that interests me. The other day, as I was melting wax, I thought it would be good to get an essential oils diffuser for aromatherapy. I learn about the nuances of lavender, orange, bergamot, etc. I read independent studies on the purity of oils from different manufacturers. I even found various essential oil recipes I wanted to try out.

As I'm researching, my shopping cart with Amazon is filling up. Then, the bombshell. I learn that certain essential oils may be dangerous to cats. Because I have 3 cats that hang out with me, I immediately deleted my cart and made note to circle back around to learn more when I have time.

Fact 3 - I helped my husband ask me out

I met my husband 17 years ago when I got put on the same church flag football team with him. He was Iceman and I was Cougarette. It took us a while to get it together as a couple. He thought I was too old for him... and I thought he was too immature. We became best friends. I finally called him and said... "I think I like you and you're not reciprocating." It turns out the feeling was mutual. 😍

Fact 4 - Alpaca obsession

I love all animals. However, I'm obsessed with alpacas. In my dreams, when I look out the windows of my home, I see alpacas. To me, having a herd of alpacas represents freedom and tranquility. It means we were able to step away from hustle and bustle of the big city and live in a rural area that's still close to a big city. It means that the concrete jungle is now a field of wildflowers.

My husband is all for it because with the land, he can get a tractor to ride and backhoe to dig holes. He helps to fan the flame by bringing me places where I can see, touch, and hear alpacas. He even ordered an alpaca calendar to hang by my desk for the new 2018 year. I doodle them, have names for them, and know that they are part of our future.

Fact 5 - Prostate massage advocate

Years ago, I worked for a manufacturer of prostate massage devices for men with prostatitis, BPH (Enlarged Prostate) and ED (Erectile Dysfunction).

My job entailed speaking to groups of men, women and healthcare professionals about how applying pressure on prostates, for prostate cancer-free men over 55 years old, can be beneficial to their health and well-being. I have spoken to countless men who could finally sleep throughout the night because they didn't need to pee as much and men who could finally live without pelvic or lower back pain. Women were grateful that they could point their loved ones to a viable non-medicinal, non-surgical way to address some serious issues.

And, yes, the obvious side effect of putting pressure on a man's prostate is that the next time he had sex, his head would apparently explode and smoke would arise from where he once had a head.

Wow, I can't believe I found the perfect gif for the previous sentence!

Nomination time

I nominate @fukako because I can only imagine what we'll find out about her! Hopefully, she can put aside her sniffles and accept this challenge.

My challenges co-tormentor

We torment each other with these challenges. Be sure to check out @abigail-dantes 5Facts post. You'll learn that as much as I am a researcher, she's a planner. The smiley face on my flosser was inspired by the smiley face on her wooden peg.

Ahahaha!!! I love this post <3 and have to admit I totally agree with number 5 ^^
Accepted :) I'll try to find the dirty facts box from my 20s I had hidden somewhere so that you can laugh.

Lol!!! Thanks for loving it! Glad you're an advocate too! I'm so glad you're accepting the challenge! I can't wait to read your post! I know I'll laugh. In fact, I crack up just the thought of you. 🤣🤣🤣 Make sure you drop a link below when you're done!

I am still laughing at your surprise for finding a gif for your sentence!

Your fact 1 reminds me of my mother in law (no, this is NOT a bad thing).

So, there in something we have in common! I am also into researching ALL about the things that interest me :) Details are very important indeed!

Your fact 3 is wonderful! It is like out of a romance book with a happy end. It is beautiful ...

I wish you both a beautiful future full of alpacas, which I hope is very, very near :)

Awesome post! Thank you for accepting the challenge!
Lots of love to you always :)

@abigail-dantes,

  • Isn't that something?! I literally wrote the sentence and searched for an exploding head gif and I got it... smoke trails and all! 🤣
  • You have to tell your mother-in-law to blog all her great finds and ideas.
  • The fact that you're a planner that also does your research makes you a fierce competitor in the game of life.
  • The reason why I finally told my husband that I had liked him was actually already in love with him. I wanted to make his laugh my ringtone.
  • When we get our alpaca farm, you have to come visit!

Hmmm.... I wonder what challenge will arise next?! hehehe
Much luv back at you! 💕💕💕

Ohh noooo more challenges for a while! Please 🤣

When we get our alpaca farm, you have to come visit!

YES!!💕
:)

Thank you @thesteemengine for your support!!!

My wife didn't help me ask her out. She just pinned me down and demanded that I take her on a date. True story. @bluebellpossum will verify.

I love that you have the confidence to speak in front of a group of men about the benefits of massaging your prostate. That must be a hilarious educational session to run.

Great facts, I was nominated to do this as well. I should probably get around to writing that post.

That's hilarious. She pinned you down?! I'll have to follow your wife! It sounds like a great post! Or at least a fun fact you can share with the rest of us when you write your 5Facts post! I bet there's a funny story behind it.

And, yes, after the initial chuckle and shock of my topic, when sharing about prostate massage devices, people were so eager for information, the tone always turned rather clinical. When I had devices to hand out as samples or as door prizes, I had extremely high participation. 😁

I just hope there aren’t any demonstrations or team practice sessions. 😳

She may not have literally pinned me down but she was rather direct with her request. 😜

I’ll see how I can incorporate the story i to my 5 facts post.

Brilliant post!

  1. I can see that, 2 strands are better than one
  2. I'm exactly the same, I have to research everything from all angles... quite often adding many items to my Amazon cart only to then remove them all, but at least they're saved for later
  3. Love that! So glad you did
  4. Who doesn't love Alpacas! I hope you get your dream and have a field full
  5. Wasn't expecting that... Is that why you've been married so long?!?

Finally, so glad you found a gif for point 5 :)

@redwellies, well, hello fellow Amazon reviews reader! I'm still cracking up at your comment about point 5. It is a sensitive subject. No pun intended! My husband probably won't fight me on it if he is ever in need of help with prostate issues in the future. He knows too much. And, as far as flossers go, please be sure to update me if you love the double-stranded flossers as much as I do.

@karencarrens so glad you found that funny 😉 and currently I'm partial to these bad boys... longer handle for the 'ol back molars and you can just pop the head off and pop on a new one [maybe there's a gif for that... oh... wait...]

Screen Shot 2018-01-16 at 12.54.04 PM.png

If they added double strands, it would be heaven!

Awesome! It's funny how we can fall in love with dental floss. LOL

I love the third fact - I Helped My Husband Ask me Out. Many ladies don't believe that its a good thing to do. They always want to leave everything for the man to do. And when there is a distance in the connection between both parties, the man ends up going for someone else

You may have a point! That's a scary thought... not ending up with my happy man.

Some very interesting facts here - you are very outgoing I like that ! If you want something in life you just have to reach out and get it . That applies to knowledge, friendship, or even finding the perfect partner ;)

LOL. I got tired of hearing about his awful dates. He used to tell me about them and wonder why he couldn't find the right person... meanwhile, I'm sitting across the table from him. 😭 I only said something to put myself out of misery.

Thank you so much for sharing the facts about yourself, definitely fun to read!

I'm also happy to see a bunch of us have fact 2 in common!

Thank you @beemillz!

Fact 2...

I'm same as you.

When I'm interested in something, I need to everything about that... To the last detail.

I got into this cryptocurrencies world like a week ago.

First few days I didn't know anything, but I'm beginning to understand some things.

I'll soon buy my first altcoins.

Hopefully, I do well.

LOL. You've fallen into the rabbit hole. Welcome! I'm glad you're going in with the intention to learn because there's a lot to learn!

This is a great challenge! Love your post. I followed you so follow back and we can help each other grow!

It is a fun challenge! Steem is full of cool challenges and contests to join. 😆

Well at least you manage to not use the wrong words but managed to inject proper languages cheers!.
@abigail-dantes would like to be nominated too

Thank you @josediccus! @abigail-dantes would kill me if I nominated her for this same challenge again. LOL

Lol yeah I'm asking if somebody can nominate me too 😀😀

Oooooh! @josediccus, please consider yourself nominated by me!

Yes, I would!! 😀🤣

Excellent publication, too good his five stories, I found it very funny the prostate and I'm guided a world and the animals are so tender, thanks for sharing those stories. Blessings for you and your family.

Thank you @jorge090202! You are too kind!!!

I'm similar to you in fact 2, it's good sometimes but some other times just keeps distracting me of the main subject lol

@cobmaximus, come to think of it, I have a feeling that Steem is full of #2 research freaks because it takes research to learn how and what to do on this platform. And, yes, it is easy to get caught up and lose focus. 🤪 Whenever I see myself straying, I look at the alpacas on my wall to refocus.

lol hahaha Alpaca Power

Great 3 facts about you! Yeah you'll just never know who you'll end up with. Life's a mystery :) I guess we do share the same page of researching everything. I myself now researching about cryptos and medicine too! Ahaha that gif is just perfectly funny! Hope none of us men have to go through that lolz. Great post!

Thanks @tngflx! Life is a mystery... an adventure... I love that my post is bringing out all my fellow researchers! So glad you stopped by!

This was a really nice post getting to know things about you! I don’t like flossing as much as you do but I know it’s necessary and now I force myself to do it often...along with pulling. I too Research EVERYTHING!!! I think it’s important to know the ends and outs of things before I dive in. Thanks for sharing these facts about yourself!!!!

Yay!!! A fellow oil-puller! Thank you for your sweet comment and encouraging words @crosheille! I look forward to getting to know you more. 😄

Lol! I’m glad you knew what I was talking about because I realize I forgot to say “oil” 😃! Yes I oil pull with coconut oil! I’ve been trying to get my family to try it. Thanks, I look forward to getting to know you more too! ☺️

This put a smile on my face. Some people probably wouldn't go the prostate massage route...

The alpacas are cute. My wife and I visited Peru a few years ago and were able to visit a weaving co-op run by a non-profit. We met with local women who showed us how they spin and weave the alpaca hair. All the colors were natural. I think they said there were 22 colors. We have a beautiful runner we purchased that I put a photo of in one of my older posts.

Nice to "meet" you!

@coldsteem, lol... I do hope I planted a seed that will help someone. And, yes, the alpacas are adorable! I think it's so great that you got to see them in Peru. Aren't they beautiful creatures?! Please drop the link to your older post here if you get a chance!

Great facts about you! Ha! I like the alpaca story! I want to have some goats or something someday. It's awesome that your husband encourages this dream of yours!!

Ooh! Goats are cool too! Especially fainting goats! I'm sure Panama would be a great place to have farm pets. And yes, @apanamamama, I love that my husband encourages me to dream.

That would be fun. We had a cow for a few days but he died. Think we will start small next time...chickens.

Hi @karencarrens, I discovered your profile today through @thesteemengine's curation but I did somehow hear about this five facts challenge before (or did I just make that up in my mind?). I enjoyed the post and even though I love alpacas I have to say that vicunas are even more adorable :)

I am not sure if this is in the rules, but for something to be a fact shouldn't there be some evidence/proof for each of the state facts? I can see that you have substantiated fact 4 very well but the other facts could be disputed?

Hi @plushzilla, thanks for your feedback! I'm not really sure where the 5facts challenge originated from. The rules are simply that we share 5 facts about ourselves. 😁
