Hi, everyone! My name is Ty and I am a Certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. I obtained my Bachelor's of Kinesiology from the University of Oshkosh-Wisconsin. I am also a full time graduate student at Duke University working on my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. I have a Facebook and Instagram page called "TheMillennialTheory" where I offer tips in the fitness world.
My experience in the fitness field started with wrestling as a freshman. I started working out as part of the strength and conditioning program. I was blessed to have Mike Nitka, a well renowned strength and conditioning coach, throughout my four years at Muskego high school. Throughout my years in his program, I was able to solidify my technique in the Olympic lifts such as cleans, back squat and bench press.
I ended up becoming a state ranked wrestler my junior and senior year by dedicating those 4 years in high school to working out and wrestling all year round. I ended up wrestling briefly during my undergraduate days. I was in the starting line-up until I tore my ACL halfway through the year. I always try to find a silver lining in the negative events I meet throughout my life. This particular silver lining was I actually switched my path of education to where I could apply to physical therapy schools. I ended up switching to Kinesiology, which I found much more enjoyable than my previous major. Kinesiology enabled me to build my knowledge upon the base I had accumulated through lifting in high school. This knowledge I have obtained has helped me train individuals so they can reach their goals. To me, there is no better feeling than seeing someone achieve their goals through hard work, which is why I love personal training so much.
I have experience with nutrition as well. I took a couple Nutrition courses in college and I have experience losing weight from wrestling. I have lost weight the right way as well as the wrong way. I will dive deeper into that story in one of my future posts. I just wanted to get on here and let you know what I am about. I am happy to be part of the Steemit community and I look forward to playing an active role here!
