We are all unique with a myriad of different needs. So how can there be a guideline set to exactly what you need? The simple answer is there isn't. You need to listen to your own body and watch it respond to too much water, too little, and just the right amount. If you pay attention and change your intake you can see the changes before your eyes.

If you want to learn how you can hydrate yourself to exact point you need to do some very simple things.
1st Drink luke warm water.
Why? Because the closer it is to body temperature the faster it will pass through the cell membrane wall of your stomach and enter into your system. This means all your organs, muscles, and chemical processes will recieve water at the fastest rate. This is true hydration, not quenching your thirst with wonderful glass of cold and slowly absorbing. Yes it tastes good but then it sits in your stomach and can lead to cramps! Drink until you can feel a little bit in your stomach. Now go off and do something!!! Wait to see how long it takes for you to go to the bathroom.
2nd When the bathroom break finally comes check your urine color.
You need to get it close to clear or completely clear. At that point you know you are hydrated properly. Now all you have to do is maintain drinking small amounts throughout the day.
3rd If your urine is still very yellow you need to fill your stomach up again with some luke warm water and wait and see again.
Repeat this until your urine is almost clear!!! It will happen usually in 2-3 rounds!!!
If you take vitamins or eat certain things that can turn your urine color, realize this and if you feel like you have had enough water you have and you are going to be bathroom a ton back off! You did it!!!
