The Red Belly Pacu fish will accept flake foods in home aquarium but it needs to be given pellets as they are grow in size. It is probably best for keep them in community tanks without live plants it because they may be eat your plants and use caution also when you selecting tank mates for this fish , Even though that they are herbivores. They may go after samaller fish in their community tanks and they can potentially kept with the plecos and arowanas .

The Red Belly Pacu Fish are looks very similar and it sometimes sold into the customers as the Red Belly Piranha. However, red belly pacu are only look like piranha as the juveniles. The red belly pacu also will grow rather so quickly and may reach into 12-24 Inc. (30-61cm ) if the property taken care of. Given their potential adult size you need to an enormous tank to keep them at home, atleast in 250 gallons (940liters) . You are also need the extremely efficient aquarium filter to make filter the tank water .
