It's been a traumatic time for UK firefighters and all public services due to recent events. The tragic attacks on manchester and London. Followed by the worst fire the country has seen in decades at Grefell Tower.
Today at 4PM GMT Berkshire fire fighters are taking part in a meeting with higher management asking them for support in lobbying the national joint council for a pay rise.
Public service pay rises in the U.K. Have been capped at 1% for years, unless of course you are in higher management. Those of which received as much as 21% in Berkshire fire service November last year.
In real terms Firefighters in Berkshire have seen a 9% pay cut due to inflation. With a large percentage of the workforce living outside the county. No longer being able to afford homes within it.
That coupled with the fact Teresa Mays shambolic Tory government has found 1 Billion to be propped up by the DUP. Which is the Democratic Union Party of Northern Ireland. Along with there archaic views on LGBT rights, same sex marriage, sexism etc the list goes on.
I'm sure money can be made available to support the hard working public sector worker who risk there lives so others are safe.
Please share your views of working conditions/pay in your area
Update on the meeting to follow shortly.
