Go Club Outdoors + Bumblebees & Flowers

in #finland6 years ago (edited)

It was Wednesday afternoon again. @gamer00 suggested that we play indoors this time because there had been showers. There were no showers forecast for the evening and I persuaded him to have the club meeting outdoors. That was a good decision. There's no more heat. It was about room temperature outside. Ideal for playing go. Jaro texted me he was going to be late. No problem. I found some flowers at the harbour and a number of bumble bees and other insects eating the nectar.

Here are the insect and flower photos:

These were blooming.

Getting the camera to focus on these was not easy. I had to throw away quite a few pictures. At least it wasn't a boring wait. The f***ing wind was constantly moving the entire setup.

Another one that co-operated and stayed in focus.

This one is a kind of hoverfly, I think [Edit: I just looked it up and it's called a hoverfly in English, kukkakärpänen in Finnish.] (Jaro appeared as I was taking this and told me it was.)

No bumblebee

I played Jaro and Antti. Won the first one.

I tried to get closer to the bird but it flew away. A real camera with a telephoto lens would be nice.

Interesting sky again

Friend Markku. I know they have told you, but it is a reality, the photos are great, as you say it was difficult to focus the camera, but the focus is perfect you can see the details of the bumblebee

When you see our friend Jaro again, please send him my most cordial greetings ..

Thank you. I'll send him your greetings.

I never played go, I’ll have to try it sometime . You prefer it to Chess ?

Absolutely! I've been at it for 26 years now. I'm a serious competitive amateur go player whereas as a chess player I'm just some guy who knows the rules and plays a few games every few years. As a chess player I'm a nobody.

That’s awesome, I will have to try it sometime, it’s really nice playing board games, and also card games, and I think we need this kind of social interaction these days more than ever, when you have to pretty much ply the mobiles out of peoples hands in order for them to be social.

An interactive way to learn the rules and some further information:

Thanks man !

You gos some great and sharp macros.

I have to say that I'm quite surprised how sharp those pics turned out as I took them with a Samsung J5 phone.

Yes It is possible to take good photos with phones. Sometimes it depends a bit of who is behind the phone or camera 😉
