Hey, great idea turning to crowdfunding and people's generosity in times of need, I'm all for that. Just my 2 cents, to make it more compelling you should go "all out" and really promote this on multiple channels, not just Steemit - like Facebook, Twitter, blog/website, etc. Also, you should consider using a crowdfunding platform like gofundme.com to have a central hub with more details, photos, a video, etc. That legitimizes it and creates a central fundraising hub. Then you post updates along the way...also have your brother himself talk and/or write a bit, then people will be able to sympathize more (versus you just asking on his behalf).
