Shorties but Goldies #9

in #film7 years ago

Hello dear Steemians. This time i came up with new serie about short films. As you know, I'm short filmmaker myself. I shot a lot of short film for my scholl and myself. The bad thing making short film is that you can't show them too many people. Many short films can't reach audience. Because of that, i want to make a serie about showing short films to you. I will show you 5 short films every week. That's gonna be one turkish film and four foreign film. Because especially in Turkey, short filmmakers need audience. We can't show our films to the world. I hope these serie will filmmakers make happy and giving you guys entertainment. Enjoy ! If you miss the previous posts, you can get them below the links.

1) Raven (Kuzgun)

It is difficult to make stories about old times in a short film. Because the cost is too high. Costumes, actors, places all increase the cost. So it is usually not preferred in short films. Or they making this very amateur. The cost of making films in Turkey is much more. We are making so cheap movies while students from abroad are making amazing production movies. The Raven movie is very courageous. The movie goes through in old times. People used to believe too much about supernatural events in the past . Village people in the film think that the child possessed by the devil. It's like old witch hunters in the USA. We will see that event with child's eyes.

2) Semele

In cinema, big problems are explained with big effects. For example, high-dose dramatization is done while describing the immigration problem. Or it is intended to make people cry when they are talking about poverty. But in real cinema, the situation is different. Large problems need to be explained with small solutions. Because these people are more realistic. If you do too much dramatizing, you will make people cry. But after a while, nobody will remember that movie. The Semele film has also become permanent. How would you describe a problematic father-daughter relationship? Sema, written and directed by Myrsini Aristidou, speaks in a very naive but effective manner. The director has also given this venue space and awards in many film festivals.

3) Irregulars

I talked about the immigration problem. There is an incredible amount of immigration film in motion picture. That's why it's trying to exploit people. As a popular social topic in cinema, almost everyone is filming about it. Because these subjects receive prizes almost everywhere. Thanks to these directors, the world is known to the world. The popular topic at the moment is migration. I've seen tons of lousy movies about it. It's all your emotional exploitation. But the documentary I show here is very different. Certificates often become didactic and boring. Because the cinematic documentary is hardly known. This movie is literally a cinematic documentary. The director Fabio Pamieri describes his film like this: ''Every year 400,000 people from Africa, Asia and the Middle East are trying to enter Europe. They are fleeing from war, persecution and poverty. As roads are cut off by roads, they head for overloaded ships and face dangerous and often lethal journeys across the Mediterranean. And one of these refugees, Cyrille Kabore, is talking about the global migration crisis on a factory background with his broken words.''

4) A G A I N

Life is full repetition. We usually try to get rid of them. But routine life always takes us. Get up in the morning, go to work, play, come home, watch television and sleep again. This cycle takes over most of our lives. The animated short film Again, directed by Nico Gao, focuses on this emotion, but approaches it from a slightly different point and creates a computer game character as a recurring character. It is also inevitable for the character to enter a desperate process together with the facts. The director is actually a UI / UX designer. While preparing this thesis in the field, but he has not received any training in the field of animation. But the result is quite beautiful. You can also see the influence of the cubism movement in the animation. The animation is trying to resist to modern life, being voice for all of us, is worth to watch. This animation has many prizes in animation section.

5) The Moped Diaries

Life is always full of surprises. These surprises can sometimes negatively affect us both positively and negatively. Sometimes both can be. This is the case for Levi, who lives in North Carolina. When he built a bridge connecting the island to the mainland, he is still too young to faces with big problems. But he has to deal with the problems it brings. The film, directed by Tyler Nilson, Nick Vitale and Michael Schwartz; a growing child who lives a life that is slowly falling apart.
