Dreadout, a film adaptation game by director Kimo Stamboel.
The film tells the story of a group of high school (SMA) students named Jessica (Marsha Aruan), Beni (Muhammad Riza Irsyadillah), Dian (Suzana Sameh), Alex (Ciccio Manassero) and Erik (Jefri Nichol) going to a haunted apartment that has not been inhabited for a long time.
The aim is to broadcast live on social media in order to achieve popularity. They intend to record the conditions in the haunted apartment.
Initially, they were constrained by security guards who forbade entry. However, with the persuasion of Linda (Caitlin Halderman), a friend of Jessica and friends, the security guard finally allowed her to enter.
When entering the apartment, they arrived at a room that had been sealed by the police, possibly a murder.
In the room, there are parchments (a kind of ancient paper substitute, made of animal skin) containing ancient Kawi writings. Of all the people, only Linda can read it.
After finishing reading the writing (which later found out to be a spell) suddenly there was a black portal to hell. The portal guardian was angry and attacked a group of teenagers.
Other world creatures began to appear. From kebaya women who can climb walls and turn their heads, hands come out of graves, pocong carrying sickles, and others.
The battle of a group of students and a group of other world creatures took place. Being a big question, why only Linda can read the mantra?
This film has the peculiarity of ancient films. If you like the previous films, such as Housekeeping and Headshot, chances are you will like this Dreadout movie too.
It is still a very thick element of blood and tension that makes us grip on what we are holding.
