I stumbled across this film on amazon prime over the weekend.
I never heard of its name nor read the reviews. The movie dragged me in and kept me intrigued and interested.
The visuals, the photography, the story line, screenplay and the direction were extraordinary.

The story is mostly timed around pre independent India during the British raj.
It starts with the father telling a story to his son: once there used to be a god of prosperity who gave birth to millions of gods. Hastar was the eldest and the goddess loved him a lot. But Hastar is greedy and he steals all the gold and food from the other siblings, and they attack Hastar. Goddess saves hastar on the condition that the world would forget his name and he would never be worshipped.
Hastar has plenty of gold but not a single piece of grain and he fears and yearns for food (flour).
Hastar is protected inside goddess’s womb and the legend says that there is treasure which could be found if one could get to the womb which is hidden inside a well.
This is the story that is told during the first 5 minutes of the movie. I don’t want to mention the story and spoil the thrill.

There are no khans of Bollywood or big named actors and the movie was made on a budget of 5cr ($750,000) snd directed by a debutant.
This is a gem of a movie. Do yourself a favour and watch it.
Many thanks for your attention.
