Recently I talked about the wonderful A Most Violent Year, and previously about the very good Miss Sloane, both share something in common with Molly's Game, the participation of Jessica Chastain. These, along with some other movies that I have not reviewed yet but in which she also acts and that I have seen, have shown me that she is a reliable actress, I will try to include more of her filmography on my list, if you know of any movie in which she participates and that is good, you can recommend it in the comments.
Year: 2017
Category: Biographical, Crime Drama.
Director: Aaron Sorkin.
Cast: Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Jeremy Strong, Chris O'Dowd, Bill Camp.
Plot
The film follows Molly Bloom, who becomes the target of an FBI investigation that seeks to dismantle the empire of illegal poker he runs for Hollywood celebrities, athletes, businessmen and the Russian mafia.
Opinion
The film starts in a great way, with a short introduction that keeps Jessica Chastain's voice-over, and then we go to the main story. In the film different temporal lines are developed, because it has a structure that is easy to understand when you are watching, but which will seem complicated when I explain it here.
On the one hand, we see some flashbacks about Molly Bloom, the protagonist, who show some passages of her childhood and youth when she was highly pressured by her father to always achieve success, and that teaches us how after an injury, Molly, who was being trained to be an Olympic athlete in skiing, ends her chance to continue in sports. Nevertheless she was still an intelligent young woman with high qualifications and a promising future.
With a personality strongly influenced by the pressure her father exerted in her youth Molly decides to become an independent woman, moves into the house of a friend where she sleeps on the couch while working as a waitress. When Dean Keith suddenly offers him a job as his personal assistant, much better paid, this being the one that will finally introduce Molly into the world of illegal poker organization, where movie actors, athletes and rich people with influence participate.
While all that is happening, the film makes constant jumps in time to the future, a future where Molly Bloom is being prosecuted for facts related to her performance in the world of illegal poker, where she had become an organizer and figure of relative importance.
Aaron Sorkin is in charge of the direction work, which is a magnificent experienced scriptwriter, but this time he is not only in charge of making the script but also directing his first film, and he does it very well, he does an acceptable job, not excellent, but good.
The acting work was good, it was the best of the film, especially what was done by Jessica Chastain, who still does not disappoint me, I have liked every one of the films that I have seen and that are starred by her. Other actors also make their appearance, such as Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Wax, Jeremy Strong, Chris O'Dowd and Bill Camp, each fulfilling different important roles to the development of the story and that relate directly to Molly, Chastain's character, as the father, the lawyer, the boss, the partner, and some clients.
In short, it is a good film, without necessarily being great, the best without doubt is the interpretation of Chastain, only for that it is worth seeing.

Score
7/10
Good film, with an acceptable address, a good script and solid performances. Personally I recommend it, although I do not consider that the film has anything special enough to be indispensable.
