Our filmmaking website bio:
Mad Sin Cinema produces record-breaking indie movies by Shane Ryan. Ryan's films have been shot on as little as ten dollar budgets, in tight and speedy shooting conditions with less than a day to conceive and shoot the entire production while other times taking four years to shoot a film for experimental purposes. He's tackled controversial film subjects such as rape, incest and pedophilia, abandoned and murdered children, serial killers, as well as LGBT stories, 1980's throwbacks and more. We always manage to secure distribution and place Ryan's movies into major retailers, with the occasional theatrical release. His films have received glowing reviews by the Los Angeles Times, MTV, Film Threat, Mr. Skin, Film School Rejects, and many more. They've been screened in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, Austin, Seattle, Detroit, Portland, Las Vegas, Spain, England, Canada, Germany, South Africa, Iceland, France, Switzerland and Australia. Plus featured in publications such as Fangoria, Rue Morgue, Starburst Magazine, LA Weekly, Penny Blood Magazine, Ultra Violent Magazine, Goregasmic Magazine, Video Librarian, VideoScope, Scream Magazine, Shock Cinema Magazine and Variety.
Ryan's films have been discussed in nearly two dozen published books;
including From The Arthouse to The Grindhouse, Shattered Innocence, Lost and Found, Earogenous Zones: Sound, Sexuality and Cinema, with several mentions in the UK releases of Digital Horror: Haunted Technologies, Network Panic and the Found Footage and Torture Porn: Popular Horror after Saw, the French books Les dossiers Sadique-master Dissection du cinéma underground extrême and Nanarland - Le livre des mauvais films sympathiques - Épisode 1, with multiple reviews in The New Flesh: 21st Century Horror Films A-Z Volume 1, exclusive interviews in The Suffering and Celebration of Life in America and the Swedish Äkta skräck, plus a segment in the newly released Snuff: Real Death and Screen Media (from leading International publisher Bloomsbury). His APSK series was a featured discussion in The Cultural Mythology of the Snuff Movie, a 2012 Academic Conference and Film Event presented by Bournemouth University (UK) in a panel entitled ‘Snuff and the Body: Self, Performance and Affect’ from a paper by Dr. Steve Jones. In 2016 the APSK series was featured in a paper entitled ‘Not Like How Hollywood Shows Us: Reintegrating Hardcore Horror into 21st Century U.S. Horror Discourse’ by Dr. James Aston (University of Hull) at Sheffield Hallam University's very first Fear 2000: 21st Century Horror conference. Aston recently completed a book about Ryan and his APSK series, entitled Beyond Videodrome.
On the acting side, Ryan recently starred in the Albert Pyun (Cyborg) film The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper and shot a cameo appearance for Pyun's Interstellar Civil War: Shadows of the Empire, and co-starred in (plus co-produced) Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance. For his directing efforts, he's currently in post-production of the corrupt cop drama The Owl in Echo Park (starring Kevin Gage of Heat), and the thriller Ted Bundy Had a Son, and in production of This Girl, This Boy and Red Oedipal, as well as the experimental 4 year shooting schedule of God Got Ill. Ryan recently released the anthologies Faces of Snuff, 60 Seconds to Die, and Grindsploitation 1, 2 & 3. His upcoming releases include the teen drama The Girl Who Wasn't Missing, the anthologies Virus of the Dead and Americabre, and a retrospective on his work entitled Banned, Exploited & Blacklisted: The Underground Work of Controversial Filmmaker Shane Ryan. Ryan is also currently developing Half-Breed, a transgender coming-of-age horror film.
