Elf (2003)
Directed byt Jon Favreau. Starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Peter Dinklage, and Kyle Gass.
Many years ago a baby climbed into Santa's sack, not to be discovered until he returned to the North Pole. Not knowing where exactly the child came from he is raised by one of the elves. As the years roll by it becomes more and more apparent Buddy isn't like all the other elves...in fact he towers above them. Eventually Buddy is told of his past and he sets off in search of his real father, a scrooge like New York publisher named Walter Hobbs.
While Walter's wife and son embrace Buddy Walter is highly Sceptical.
Elf was released to critical and commercial success, grossing $220 million worldwide against a $33 million budget. It's success inspired the 2010 Broadway musical, imaginatively titled, *Elf: The Musical * and in 2014 it was remade as a stop-motion television special Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas.
