Captain Marvel (2019) Review (Spoiler Free)

in #film6 years ago

Going to the movies these days is quite an expensive outing, so naturally you'd like to see a movie that's worthwhile. Some movies need to be experienced on the big screen, while others would be better to watch at home once it comes out on cable/DVD.

'Captain Marvel' is, without a doubt, a movie that needs to be experienced on the big screen.

If you don't necessarily know who Captain Marvel is, don't worry, you're not alone. The movie delves into the main character's backstory in excruciating detail, so by the time you finish watching you'll know exactly who she is and how she came to be.

The movies' visual effects is spectacular. In no way, shape or form did the movie take any cheap shots at producing a certain scene or effect that would make you wish you had seen it in 3D. If you can splurge on the 3D version, go for it, but those thinking about seeing the 2D version wouldn't miss out on anything special.

Let's talk about the storytelling real quick (without spoiling anything, of course). Even though a few typical superhero tropes worm their way into the movie, the way everything is depicted and explained to the viewer changes it from being cheesy and predictable into something genuinely inspiring and unique to witness.

This is also one of the biggest reasons why the film is so successful. It has such an inspiring core message that it applies to everyone, and frankly, it'll easily warm your heart.

As with any Marvel movie, you can expect to find some well-written humor to pop out in between the hard-hitting action scenes. This makes viewers watching the movie go through a roller coaster of emotions, from being focused on the seriousness of the current situation to snickering from a clever quip.

Overall, 'Captain Marvel' was by far one of the best movies I ever saw at a cinema. The one thing that really caught me off guard was how inspired I felt afterwards. Few movies have the power to influence me like that, and it's clear to see that I'm not the only one feeling that way judging by the movie's eye-watering $455 million global opening weekend launch. According to Google, this makes 'Captain Marvel' the sixth highest opening movie launch of all time.

Verdict

'Captain Marvel' has the potential to be one of the greatest Marvel movies ever made. I also predict that the main character will play a crucial part in the upcoming movie 'Avengers: Endgame'.
