There was an ambiance of a funeral. Three men and two women gathered around the record player. They were the only ones left who cared.
"Is everyone ready?" one of the men asked. He held the needle in his hand.
Everyone nodded slowly.
The man lowered the needle onto the record player.
There was a crackle. A woman smiled. That sound. Then the record started to play. It was an old song. From the 70s'. But it wasn't the track that was important.
All eyes were on the record as it spun and spun. They took in each note. Embraced it.
The song didn't finish. There was a skip. A cry was heard from the crowd. Then the record went dead.
The man tried to play it again. But the vinyl was too old.
"That's it," he said, as he picked up the record and put in the garbage.
There was a collective sigh. Then each one put on their headphones and went on with their day.
Very short, and yet very emotional... These words have endless boundaries as we all are able to picture our different perspectives in a figuratively way as it relates to it. I'll love to read through it one more time.
Beautiful story that makes me almost cry.

Funny story, unexpected ending and nice storytelling style @whatageek. That sound when vinyl starts playing is really something very unusual and pleasant.

It would have been nice to have three women on the four sides of the player.

Ohhhhhh.
Me pregunto ¿Qué haré con mis Vinilos? ¿Que haré con el plato Marantz? ¿Que haré con el viejo disco de Blood, sweat and tears?
Saludos

Heartache story
This is a unique rendition of the good old days! A Great read
Somewhere in a landfill
"Hey man welcome to the neighbourhood. We're having a little party at the back of those rusty old trucks. Why don't you join us - It's 80's night."
A scratched up old vynil looks on as a chipped one hobbles off into the pile of rubble ahead.
This is so great. It is a excellent story.
Short but very emotional piece. Love how you breath life into each words.
Me gusta ese toque lugubre pero sutil

Excellent post beautiful
Very nicely written!! The image below the text is chosen correctly in my opinion. There is something fascinatingly beautiful in the picture of the player and the vinyl record. After reading remains a pleasant feeling, as the aftertaste of a good and a little tart wine.
