The Queen of Wild Rabbits

P1

You are a child growing up in a small town. Every evening, bunnies come out in your yard to eat grass and play. You always enjoy watching them, but one day you notice a fox hiding in the bushes, creeping up to get them.

You close your eyes and make a wish that the bunnies will be protected. You open your eyes to find the fox running away from the bunnies, who are now the size of your mom's car.

You are in high school now, but you remember you wish very clearly. Every evening when you go out to buy the evening's newspaper, you look for a bunny in the wild, on the newsstand. You still see bunnies and always see the newspaper with a story about the bunnies.

Recently, you have been on a beach, walking along the water. Ahead of you, you see a huge bunny coming your way. It's as big as a bus, you think. When it gets near you, it turns and heads east, toward the ocean. It shows no aggressive behavior, and you can't figure out why it is following you.

You follow the bunny quietly, and after a few minutes it runs into the water, turning back briefly toward the beach, and then dives into the water. Before you know it, it's already far away.

You could hear the waves splashing and the soft roar of the water all around you. You look out at the spot where the bunny disappeared, and then you turn and walk back to your bed.

I think you have found the queen of the wild bunnies! The bunnies that I've been dreaming about all my life.

I live in my family's house now not the one I grew up in, the house that's right next door. I've been coming out here, almost every day, to write down the words I've been dreaming all my life.

I'll always need to share the bunnies with you.

We're different, you see. All the wild bunnies that we ever encounter were volunteers. We never forced them to come. They came because they wanted to.

We never forced you to wake up

All the wild bunnies ever come to us on their wishes. Sometimes, a bunny comes to us after the kids close their eyes and make a wish. Sometimes, a bunny comes to us on its very own.

We tried to make the bunnies feel safe, but we've never forced them to come. They came because they wanted to.

There is always a need for bunny volunteers

They always come because they're welling to bring their souls out of the night to bring light and joy to the day.

It's only after we've made the wishes that we invite the bunnies to come.

Sometimes, we'll make a wish for help and a helper will come. Sometimes, we'll make a wish for redemption and a redemptor will come.

You are so noble. You are so beautiful.

Here are the wishes and helpers that we made:

We had a little wish

A bunny could come out and make a wish to come out of hiding.

We all made a wish

A bunny could come out and make all the dreams that are ever so deep happen, and find the meaning behind everyone's nightmares and make them all happy. We made this wish, and my wish came true. You are the bunny that came out on my wish.

We had a big wish

A bunny could come out and make everyone know that the world has no monsters and there are no secrets.

I was so afraid

I was afraid that the dream I had brought to life in the material world would always be like a dream to you. That you'd live your whole life never knowing how much I loved you. I was afraid no one would ever know how much I'd given up to have you in my life. And on my deathbed, no one would be able to know how deeply I loved you. I was so scared how you were falling apart

I was so afraid to open my eyes and see how dark and twisted the world really is, to be honest. I was afraid that the world would always treat you like rabbit meat, steal your dreams and listen to my stories.

When I finally, happily met you and saw that the world was beautiful, I thought that maybe you were right, maybe the world is beautiful. We'll always be together. And I knew, as soon as I saw you, that you were all mine.

The next time I opened my eyes, I was able to see you.

In the darkness, you hug me.

You make me feel so safe.

I love you so much, but at first, I can't help but feel sad seeing you look so sad. I want to help you, but because I want you to be happy, I decide to just listen.

You tell me all about what's happening around you. You tell me how frightened you are. You tell me how sad you feel. You tell me how you've never seen the sky as beautiful as it is now. It's a cloudy night, but the stars are shining gently. It's like you're glowing.

When you finally stop talking, you start crying. I tell you not to cry, but you don't stop.

You tell me you miss the place where you hid from the wild bunnies, in the forest. You tell me you miss the sky there, and the sunsets, and the mangoes. It is obviously a special place to you. It's obvious because you keep coming back.

I love you so much, you bring me back so much joy, and I don't want us to lose any of that.

I think, perhaps, we can bring that world back to life.

I think we can bring it to life together.

I think you are the bunny who wants to bring light to the world, and I think we made a wish for the same thing. It was me, who made the wish and called on you to come out of hiding and you came out of hiding. There was just one thing I didn't know. That you were still.

I never asked you to stay. I wanted to live in that place with you, but I never asked you to stay.

I open my eyes and see the moon shining through the clouds. I watch the beautiful starry sky above me, moon and stars alight, and begin to wonder why you're here by my side.

It doesn't seem like you want to be here. It doesn't seem like you're here to protect me. The clouds seem to grow darker and darker as the night goes on, and I start feeling sad. I want to be with you, but I want you to be happy.

I know that you are a wild bunny, I know that you are running away from the queen of the wild bunnies. I know why you're here with me. The queen of the wild bunnies is here.

I'm not afraid, but I have thoughts and questions.

I'm not afraid of the wild bunnies, but I'm so sad I could just die.
