Some of the best writing I've seen on steemit. Of course I'm new here but I've read more than a few. You have a very nice rhythm. It's smooth like butter and I don't have to force myself to read it. I don't know where you got that calmness in your writing, but I enjoy sinking into the story. Your narrator seems to guide your characters well. Sorry, I know I've said a lot here.

I have worked for years to keep the writing simple and clear and the plot flowing naturally - not ever reader is as conscious of that as you, although I do think they appreciate it.
