Oh my! Good story, @cizzo. I really enjoyed it. So he's kind of a mad scientist, in a way, but obsessed with watches instead of potions, and also a cold-blooded killer! This story had whispers of a Twilight Zone episode, for me. It is quite tantalizingly creepy.

Funny you mention Twilight Zone, once I wrote it I couldn't help think of Alfred Hitchcock Presents which is a favorite show of mine (the old one anyway).Thank you @jayna. In a sense it's a cautionary tale of being a bit too detail oriented :)
Oh yes, Alfred Hitchcock too. It feels like there is a big hole where those shows once were. And there used to be a super scary show called The Sixth Sense too.
