Fireflies: Reintroduction

in #fiction7 years ago (edited)

Just so you know, I have declined payout on this post because I'm asking you to re-read chapter one from a book (that I posted last year. )   And my stomach is in knots.

I was talking to the hubby tonight.   He gave me a boot up the rear gentle nudge.  I was telling him about my detox posts... and he was...... supportive. hahaha  (he did the detox with me and he DID love the comics)

BUT.... he asked why I haven't started submitting the next chapters of Fireflies.

hmmmmmmm.

I gave him several reasons, but they were really excuses.  The real reason is it's much easier to just talk about your life.  If people don't like it - no matter.  Sometimes I DON'T like my life either!  hahaha

But when you create something... a new world, and characters that come from your mind...    it's intimidating.

But it's bedtime now.  And I thought about it for hours.  And I guess I'm gonna submit it cuz here I am writing all this in a post.

If you read it last year, would you mind refreshing your memory here?  (and I just re-read the comments from the original post and I'm so unbelievably honored to see who took the time to encourage me. )   If you haven't read it yet - would you click this link and join Talia to see where her daydreEms take her?

Here's the first few lines...

Deep breath.
Deeper.
She could hear the rhythm of her pulse start to beat an increasingly regular pattern deep within her ear.  She imagined a tiny sprite inside her head - beating on the drum.  She smirked and rolled over onto her back.  Slowly opening her eyes, she became accustomed to the "fireflies" dancing in her line of vision.  It didn't matter how much she would rub her eyes, they would fade in their own time.  It was always like that after a trip.   After her daydreems.

Sweet dreEms!

As soon as I finish work today I'll read through it and give you my honest feedback. Knowing you though I'm sure it will be fantastic. Your posts always draw me in and I haven't quit halfway on any of them yet so I have high expectations! :P

thank you!!!!! biting my nails hahahahahaha

I will definitely take a look, I will make it my bedtime reading tonight, I love fantasy genre, and I do book cover photography so I'm intrigued.

ohhhhhhh perhaps you might have ideas for this cover! the picture that is on the post is what i put together but i would love some help in that arena! let's keep talking :) and I hope you enjoy chapter 1!!

I clicked because of the image!! It reminded me of a image I licenced for a book a few months agoBCFEB7E1-407F-49BE-B296-DA1E118FE905.jpeg
I’m always here if you want to talk about book covers :) I won’t shut up, ha ha!

hahahahaha wow - that is similar!!!!
you never have to shut up hehehe if you look over my "comments" on my blog - you see i also talk a lot ;) but i try to make it pleasant and encouraging and interactive hehehehe

Only online for me, in real life I’m quiet as a mouse

but that's good - this is your social outlet hehehehe :)

I wish you had taken payment today. I would have gladly paid you, since I never saw this the first time. Looking forward to chapter 2, and even if you have previously posted it - take payment!

I have heard that from so many people! LOL but... i felt wrong taking payment for something that I'm just re-introducing! I always want to do right by my readers!!! :)

and i'm glad that you want to read chapter 2! that is enough encouragement for me! I think I will upload it tomorrow :) so please come back! :)

I've been hoping you'd start writing this story again ... happy hubby kicked... I mean nuddge you

Thanks @creed221. I'm still sore from that kick! Hahahhaa but... it was needed 😉

Yeah. I gonna click on the link right away to read it.

Thanks MW :) hope you like it!

I mustn't have been around for the first chapter.....I just checked and I wasn't one of your champions. I suck.

And....I have stars in my eyes but not like yours....I read that post too. Very interesting.

I had stars today and yesterday. I hate migraines.

It's really late and I don't know why I am still up. So, I'll read your story tomorrow....err .. later today. :)

well.... your hubby was. and you two are one! so - that counts :)

i know!!! i actually DO get stars in my eyes. I remember talking about your stars with your hubby hahahaha.

I had a migraine for 5 days this week. It wasn't as bad as the 5 day migraine that was in that "starry eyed lab rats" post. That one was awful. brought me to my knees and even though the last thing you want to do is cry.. i couldn't help it. Crying made it so much worse but I couldn't take the pain anymore!!!! I downed 5 Aleve (only supposed to take 2 in a 24 hour period??) but the next day it FINALLY went away.

and left me with a weird spot in my vision ... which if you read the post ... you already know so i dont' know why i'm recounting it hahahahaha

but yeah -the one from this week ... one day it made me nauseous - but the other 4 days it was just a dull, constant ache everywhere. so maybe that was more of a headache.

i don't know why i'm still up either ;) but hi!!!!

Crying does make a migraine worse....I whimper at most. I have medication (Eletriptan -$12 a pill!!) that helps. I sometimes will take a concoction of a cold medication with something I can't remember in it along with one advil and tylenol and a large black coffee.

Please be careful with the advil or aleve or whatever you took - 5 is an overdose. I remember when I worked at the hospital a 17 year old girl took a few too many advils bc of period cramps. She ended up in ICU, flown to London Ontario for a liver transplant. I think she only took 5 or 6 advil. So be careful with that stuff.

After a migraine I get brain damage for a couple of days - I call it the stupids. My cognition is out the window.

I was going to ask you.....and I keep forgetting, speaking of cognition problems.....are you related to @creatr?

Yes - i'm pretty sure that I was literally at the end of my rope (this was over 20 years ago) I felt like - after taking these, I'll be out of pain one way or the other. (it was pretty irrational! thankfully God protected me AND took the pain away)
Can you believe it - I woke up with the 6th one in 7 days. Yesterday was my only reprieve - though I did feel it hiding in the corner...

I also take cold medicine! Today I took 2 aleve at 6 am... and when it only got worse, I ended up taking 2 Benadryl (severe allergy and sinus)

It makes me groggy - but i'll take groggy over torture!

I wrote a poem to my migraine today... I'll be sure to let you know when it's ready... I was just going to toss it up there but I figured I would get some editing advice from TWB :)

and @creatr and I have the same Father... if that's what you mean :) Other than that - no. not related hehehe I AM hoping to see him and his wife this weekend though!!

What is TWB?

I have had a migraine every day too for the last few days. It's the weather, I know it for me at any rate. I even have greasy hair - why? I don't know it just happens.

Can't wait to read your poem.

Say hi to @creatr when you see him....hello from John and Deborah from Canada - the land of the free(ze).

The Writer's Block :)

for me - i think i mistakenly ate some sauce with wheat gluten in it. I used to get migraines 3-4 times a week until I took wheat out of my diet. but sometimes it's hidden. When I saw that the sauce on my ginger chicken was brown... i assumed there was soy sauce in it (most soy sauces have wheat flour added - aggravating) but this particuar restaurant used a wheat-less soy sauce the last time we were there. 6 migraines later.... i'm guessing they did not. :(

i will do better than that - i will give him a great big hug from you both!!! :)
