Purgatory Place
This be where the weak go up in flames to save us from judgment.
This be where the weak suffer relentless torture so the hellion's can grow in infinite euphoria.
This be where the weak are slaves until the end of time.
This be where the hellions rest, whose purge was too little or too slow.
On this earth we live for ever, all who question are weak and will be sacrificed. The tribe lives forever, long live the tribe!
"I mean, these guys sound crazy right? and I don't think much of their grammar either Ryan" Lucy read the words aloud. They were written on a giant wooden sign next to a fortified door.
"Yep, I've dealt with this band of human excrement before, luckily for us they are a dying bread." Ryan was scanning the horizon as he spoke. "That's not to say they aren't dangerous kiddo so stay frosty"
"How many do you think are left?" Lucy asked suddenly curious.
"Impossible to know really, if the rumours are true they only have one strong-hold left and the rest of their forces scattered, forming small nomadic tribes. But don't get it twisted Lucy these guys are every bit as violent with equally as confused beliefs" he said with a little more force now as he sensed Lucy was getting the wrong idea.
"Eww, look at this" Lucy was digging her dagger into one of the letters on the sign. "It's sticky, do you think it's blood?"
"Oh it's definitely blood, but what worries me more is that it's fresh" Ryan was suddenly more alert. "I'd say given the humidity and the size of the sign, these letters could take a couple of days to dry fully, the point is it's fresh."
"Ok Ryan, say this is 'The Strong-Hold' wouldn't it be a good idea to just make run for it and completely bypass theses crazies?" Lucy's voice now filled with purpose.
"Yep, and so long as we weren't spotted as we approached, that's exactly what we're going to do" They grabbed their gear and got back into the car. "Back the way we came then?" Ryan's words fell to silence and both of their thoughts went to their stomachs, neither of them had eaten in days.
"Something's not right" Ryan snapped as he pulled over. He got out to check the tiers. "We've got a flat" Ryan went over to the passenger window. "And it wasn't a thorn, look." He showed Lucy a long barbed spike. "I guess we weren't alone up there then?" Lucy quipped.
"Nope, this was fired from a gun"
"So what now?" Asked Lucy before they both fell silent.
"We might not have to wait, look over there" Ryan let Lucy look through the binoculars, a colossal military style vehicle was thundering towards them.
